Seems like this will quickly lead to the GM getting fired and then the new coach getting fired not long after

I want Baalke gone but he has done a pretty decent job on the drafting side of things. Dude just can’t hire coaches for shite. I would think keeping Trent maybe hurts chances with Johnson though.

Decent job drafting? Completely disagree

And Baalke must have pictures of Khan at a diddy party or something. This whole thing has been a complete shite show for a while

The guy just drafted an absolute superstar on MTJ in the 20s and Walker has turned into a monster (not that he shouldn’t have being 1.1) his numbers are amazing for a team that does this retarded rotation thing on defense as much as they do. Strange, Washington, Bigsby all playing well on offense with opportunity, Masson Smith has also stepped up quite a bit as season went on for the DL.

Don’t get me wrong at all, I’d MUCH rather him go but it could be way worse from personnel perspective IMO. Look at the saints for FFS. But in reality I think BTJ likely saved his job.

Wonder if the saints take a sniff on Doug Pederson, although Aaron Glenn feels inevitable

I am in the minority I am sure. I think Pederson is a good coach. But it won’t matter who hire. Until Loomis is fired or stuffed into corner office without control the team is fricked.

I don’t think Pederson is a bad coach. Jacksonville is just a complete shite show. He will land somewhere else

Wasn’t much of pedersons success tied to reich as his OC?

Reich is readily available if so

Anyone saying Pederson is a good coach and jville is a bad organization doesn’t understand pederson’s stubbornness and unrelenting loyalty to Press Taylor (Bengal coach’s brother). Doug feels like he’s groomed Taylor to be THE guy and clearly admitting Press has failed kinda indicates he himself failing.

If they’re struggling in Jacksonville he would struggle worse in New Orleans as the roster is not as good.

Trent Baalke stays in JAX. As I said on @gmfb , the structure will be different -- new coach will report to owner, not GM-- but new coach will be inheriting GM from previous era.

lol what kind of clown show is this? For God's sake, Jacksonville.

Given what Johnson reportedly wants, it most certainly would.

He has said he wants a shared vision between GM and him (and owner), and a detailed plan from the GM and owner on how they will work together to get better.

FWIW the only thing Khan had said that Baalke will help him with the hire. I’m hoping that just means “hey Trent should we go after Johnson?”

“Yep”

Then he asks for legit input from Johnson as to who he wants to work with in the role to achieve alignment.

Hard to imagine a scenario where Baalke recommends someone who will want him fired/with less control

Similar to the falcons last year who likely would’ve hired BB but the existing front office knew BB would eventually remake that crew into his own vision

Also just looking at it from Ben Johnson’s view, Baalke has survived like 6 coaches being fired between SF and Jax. Probably doesn’t make you feel great to be potentially the 7th
