Lions losing will accelerate the coaching carousel bigly. Curious how the timing of his follow up interviews will go

Jags also apparently blown away by Coen’s interview and he will likely get a second this week.

Could be legit, could be just propaganda because they don’t think they’ll get Johnson.

Why wouldn’t Johnson be?

Because of one loss?

Cohen seems like the only other name they have really been linked too. Checks the boxes of being a creative playcaller while also likely being cool with signing up with baalke

Curious if the lions losing opens up the door for Ben Johnson to stay if he doesn’t love the options again. Current expectation is he’s done for sure but he left the commanders at the altar at the 11th hour last year too

They’ve been pretty heavily linked with Selah and Glenn as well last week.

Also as the weeks go on the Baalke thing seems to be more of a Florio narrative than anything.

Saleh feels like he’s in the Vrabel window where he’ll be too good to get a DC job but not get a job immediately after getting fired but can take a year off and consult. If I’m him too, I’m not taking a job without an owner who’s shown some commitment to his coaches after his first stint with the Jets. Jags feel in a similar spot as the jets job then, higher expectations in the job than the recent results would normally dictate.

The ballke thing got reported nationally outside of florios fan fic stuff. I think the pats being off early takes away some leverage for Ben Johnson’s agent so that energy has gone to the Jags buzz. Feels like Bears or Raiders for him, although the bears job seems like a total wild card right now

If I had to take a guess

Cohen- jags
Johnson - Vegas
Glenn - New Orleans
Bears - ???? Something totally weird. I’ll say Eddie George here as a placeholder
Jets - if not Glenn, the pick could get weird. I’ll say Spags

Saleh
Coen
Graham

All lines up for in person second interviews. Really hope Graham is just a RR requirement guy because I’d fricking melt

Have to assume it’s Coen.

I guess the other question is could you convince saleh to come back to Jacksonville (previously coached there) by matching 9ers offer and coach Allen/Walker tandem.

Coen seems like the pick but the longer Saleh hangs around the more I could see that happening

Crazy move to wait until all the top candidates say they don’t want the job to then fire him

What a joke. It took all the good candidates moving on for you to see what fans have been clamoring for. Sad.

Khan's timing is so suspect.

This might not be the worst move to make but if you're cleaning house why not just do it all at once?

I think Khan REALLY wants a winner. He’s willing to do what it takes. He does a lot of the right things well in investing for the franchises future success, not meddling, but not being so far removed that he’s completely absent. He just doesn’t naturally really understand football and he’s too trusting in the wrong people to a fault. I think he’s one of these dudes where if he stumbled into the right GM everyone would praise him as what an owner should be. He’s just hired the wrong people

Saleh's almost certainly going to get another opportunity someday. I'd hope he steers clear or this job might ruin it

Lot of bad GM’s, but why are candidates supposedly saying they won’t work with Baalke ?

I don’t even think Baalke was worse than a lot of average GMs from a scouting point of view.

I think it’s more that he’s kind of a cockroach and wherever he goes he has multiple head coaches and he just keeps on going. Dude is the Littlefinger of GMs

Like you said pretty wild with all the power struggles Baalke has won over his career he’s done in by a 38 year old named Liam

That's just it. I don't think he knows what he really wants as far as building a winner.

He can't trust a yes man as GM.

He has to have a GM look him dead in the eye and tell him the truth.

I agree he has some traits that make the job good but this latest schtick seems fishy again.

He's got to find common ground. Tell the coach and GM what he wants and hire the coach and GM that want the same thing.

and for his sake, they aren't just telling him what he wants to hear.
