I don’t know if he knows either.
But the willingness to get rid of Baalke and then double down on Coen was big to me. They’ll now bring in someone that Coen wants to work with. There will finally be an actual vision going forward with the team and everyone will be on a similar page. Khan finally acting like a guy who has made billions of dollars. It could absolutely fail but at least they’re stepping out of their comfort zone that has failed many times.
I love that he didn’t take no for an answer in the guy he supposedly really wanting after realizing Baalke REALLY was a problem.
The media histrionics over this hire are insane. 99.99% of humans would have second thoughts over a job that wanted you so badly they’d triple (or somewhere around) your salary and restructure their organization in a manner that you saw as extremely beneficial.
I also don’t see why Tampa is getting such a pass over the “we will give you a raise but then you can’t interview in person for a HC job.” Thats bullshite. Put your best offer on the table and then wish your guy well in his potential promotional interview.
The histrionics coming from Tampa and their fans make me feel like the jaguars got potentially a really good coach.

Yeah Baalke comes off as the kind of guy that probably sold Khan that this was the most talented team the jaguars have ever had.
And then when things started falling apart I'm sure he started blaming it all on. Doug Pederson.
Baalke was the guy who constructed the roster so that would just be my best guess that he was the one that fed him that line. I mean this is just me talking and speculating. But I think that it wasn't just about Coen not wanting to work with him either.
Baalke had already probably started to wear out his welcome you would think.
