If only there were historical examples we could point to that show the results of lowering standards in order to increase numbers.

It's a shame we don't and therefore have no idea what outcome this will have.

I don’t know how we can continue to pretend like we’re living on the same planet as these folks.

Honestly, this is a bad idea. The problem is young people have no interest in teaching and I don’t blame them.

Literacy tests hinder DEI goals.

And they will be asking for a raise before you know it.

New Jersey public schools are consistently ranked highest in the country. They also pay public school teachers very well compared to other states.

It's alarming that they can't employ enough teachers now and will compromise teacher ability as a result. Just a downward spiral.

Continued efforts at dumbing down the people by putting dumb people as teachers. This should speed up things

only liberals care about teaching and then on top of that they have no idea they are indoctrinating kids to communism. They think they are saving America when they are in fact contributing to its downfall.

The number one reason people don’t want to teach is not the money, it’s the lack of holding dangerous and disruptive students accountable for their actions and removing those students from school.

Obama made schools report suspensions and expulsions by race which makes administrators scared to get rid of problem students. And a school doesn’t have to get rid of many students. Usually, getting rid of five to ten students a year keeps the rest in line and allows teachers to teach.

Schools that have behavioral standards do not have teacher shortages and don’t have to hire substandard teachers.

The school model is well out of date. With technology advancements, fewer teachers are needed.

Why anyone would put their child in public schools is beyond me. I would do everything in my power to send my kids to private school. Drive a shite box, wear 2nd hand clothes, etc.

But people don’t. They value their car/house/latest cell phone more than their own children. It’s tragic.

The praxis is more than a basic literacy test, but some sort of certification other than a diploma is needed

Majority of the people that get into teaching tend to be commies. Does that explain it better for you?

I had to pass a similar test when I got my teaching license. It was very easy and anyone who cannot pass a test like that should not be responsible for teaching children the same things they are unable to do themselves.
