I wouldn’t worry about it. They’re all open until there’s a signature.

And?

People who can’t handle the current state of college football recruiting should just stay on tRant.

I can't follow football recruiting anymore. It's not that I don't care at all, it's that I don't have the energy to get my hopes up for commitments that mean absolutely nothing anymore. Some of these kids really want to be here, and do come here. That's great. But I don't have any way of knowing which one's are serious, so why bother thinking about it?

And that stinks, because I used to really enjoy following recruiting.

I get more enjoyment out of baseball recruiting, which is historically ravaged by the draft, because at least I can feel like if they don't get their number, they will be here, and not suddenly flip to another school. And with changes to the draft in recent years, we're getting a lot more guys to campus. Football is just a circus.

He could "un-commit". Be a man about it instead of, trying to have his cake and eat it too.

In 2025, there were a handful of players who flipped, but most stuck. It’s always been like this.

I just started following recruiting this season, and I’m really starting to see why MJ said what he said…

Uneducated kids following “cool” trends they see other players do on social media. You can have your recruitment stay open and “enjoy the process” and get the most money you can without putting a tweet out like this. Have your agent get your money right behind the scenes. But putting it on Twitter makes you look foolish and attention seeking.

I think in a few years when these guys are employees and there is revenue sharing it will be a little bit different. Like in soccer, you can sign a pre-contract commitment 6 months before your current contract is up. I'd imagine we'll see something that like. If you decide to leave, fine, but if it isn't mutual then you'll have to buy out a portion of your contract.

If you think this will stop people from moving though, I doubt it. Schools don't want to be known as the school that keeps you hostage. They'll still let guys go. At least in the future, they will get some money back I would imagine. Once again, that is only if it isn't mutual. Once revenue sharing happens, there is also the chance that bench guys won't want to leave. They'll be making bank and they'll have a signed contract for x amount of years. A kid may be willing to skip out on PT to make 300k sitting the bench at LSU.

The term commitment doesn’t mean much any more. They should just say LSU is the current leader, team to beat, high bidder, or has right of first refusal. It’s still better than nothing.

The term “commitment” allows On3 and 247 to tally stars and points and publish “recruiting” class rankings to sell subscriptions.
