Why isn’t it a bigger deal gambling companies are targeting kids sponsoring streamers

If you have a kid under the age of 18 they probably watch one of these streamers. Nearly every single one of the streamers bombard their viewers with gambling ads. Either they themselves are spending hours gambling on streams with the company giving millions to gamble away.
That or they constantly encourage their audience to make bets on these sites. In a decade we are going to see the most gambling addiction generation of our lifetimes and it’ll be your kids.

It used to be impossible to be gamble before the age of 21. When I finally made 21 I went to the casino and that was my first and last time. We are now raising a generation who’s going to have a gambling addiction by age 12.
I remember the old saying watch what your kids are doing and now no one cares. You thought iPad kids were bad, wait till your kid has 30k in gambling debt by age 19.

Its really disgusting. They are building a world where its going to be so easy to dig yourself into a financial hole at a young age, when you don't fully understand consequences, and never be able to recover.

The tech boom was seen as a positive alternative to the Industrial boom of the early 1900s where folks the JP Morgan and Rockerfeller were seen as evil. These tech guys make them look like saints not only are they predatory, they offer no benefit to the economy and don’t even produce jobs.

On a recent trip to Vegas I was surprised to see so many kids with their parents on the casino floor. The kids weren’t actually gambling but were in there. I was thinking the casinos are just letting them get exposed early.

The biggest surprise on that graphic is that Louisiana is outpacing Mississippi for commercial gaming. They have an infinitely better set up than we do. I guess those Texas people coming across the border really helped our numbers.

Online gambling is ridiculously evil.
I used to bet rather large sums of disposable income on football with a bookie, and still do from time to time. I have won and loss single hands of bouret and poker for even larger sums. I have walked a golf course at a PGA event with a group of Asians clutching thousand's of dollars in our hands with action on 3-4 prop bets with every swing of the club.
None of that remotely compares to the insanity of being able to sit alone somewhere 365/24/7 and digitally place a prop bet with a high interest credit card on the happenings of an event half way around the world and have it instantly credit/debit said card within seconds. The golf thing came closest, but even then, we were physically present, you physically could see the money disappearing/appearing and there was human interaction.

Hell, Arkansas blankets it stadiums in lottery and casino ads.
I don’t like it. I also think it’s not a good thing that sports news and entertainment have merged at the hip with gambling.
Just because people are always going to gamble doesn’t mean the schools and espn have to go all in on it too.

The perverse nature of many states’ willingness to allow gambling to proliferate while pretending marijuana and porn is problematic is hilarious.

And suicide rates will increase proportionately. Sad to think about it, really.

All I know is I wish I owned an online book. Those things probably print money, especially now that they have their hooks into the 16-22 year old guy demographic.

I had a bookie in college and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

from my observation younger generations, especially males, feel they so far behind/are never really going to get ahead so they have a much more yolo approach with their money.
they sports bet, crypto, etc. as a chance to hit it rich and if they lose they don’t really care because they are back where they started in a way. it’s pretty sad, literally everything is sponsored by Draft Kings, Fan Duel, Prize Picks or BetMGM at this point
it’s the same mindset that you see in lower income class (with slot machines and lottery) now being brought to middle and upper middle class males

Why isn't it a bigger deal that the world's leader in sports broadcasting owns a gambling company that sets lines and takes bets on the games they cover?
