Was at the game last night. I took an interest in watching our secondary. #25 is completely allergic to turning his head around. #2 is completely allergic to turning his head around. #1 has a severe allergy to turning head around. #11 has a complete allergy to turning his head around. #14 turns his head around, as you'd expert given his PFF grade. It is obvious on TV, but to watch it in person is glaring. You see ball thrown, track secondary player guarding it and see they damn near never turn their head around and do not know the position of the football. Idk if this is coaching, player stubbornness, or what. If they would turn their heads around and look for that second before the ball is there, they'd have far more success defending passes. I'm not reporting anything new, but just watching that group all night really made it stand out. They simply don't defend the pass 90% of the time.

I know what it is, because I played a lot of flag and touch football. Though at an extremely lower level, it is still good practice to turn your head around. And many times I was tracking a receiver, telling myself to turn around, and failing to do so because I was always watching the receiver to make sure I was positioned okay. One time I remember hearing my teammates yelling at me that the ball was in the air, and I still couldn’t turn. I can’t explain it, but it happened, and not just to me,; it was a common problem.

Woodland (I think it was Woodland) had one textbook play tracking the receiver, turning his head, and knocking the ball away.

Shame on them for not knowing that the ball is second away from being there

It's hard to imagine we were once DBU as bad as it's gotten these last few 5 years.

I watch a lot of football and even at the NFL level, guys with the ball skills to turn their head around in coverage consistently are fairly rare. In fact some coaches will teach not to in man coverage and watch the receiver's eyes and come up between the receiver's hands with one are when the eyes and mannerisms indicate the ball is near.

When the DBs are constantly chasing in recovery mode, they are basically just trying to make a tackle to save a big gain.
Expect a big jump next year as Raymond gets some upgraded talent on the field and our young DBs get another year to develop.

A good friend and I bemoaned the fact each game, all season long.

Quickly becoming a trash poster on here and it took less than 2-weeks from making your account.

Because it is probably the better way to play the position. Rantards everywhere will disagree.

An improved pass rush will make the DB’s look a lot better. Not a lot of pressure from that unit yesterday.

Hoping we have 4 new starters in secondary in 2025

This is especially true on endzone corner routes. If the receiver is going to catch the ball, it will be in the next millisecond or he will be out of bounds. TURN AND LOOK FOR THE DAMN BALL!! I can't count the times a pass could have been intercepted if the defender had just turned and looked.

Hoping the young guys improve, the new guys are as good as advertised, and the D-line can get some push to help them.
But mostly I’d like to start a season with a win.

If you feel beat you aren’t going to turn your head.

It's a matter of chewing gum and walking at the same time.
The first thing those guys should do when getting burned on a deep route is to turn their head and look for the ball. The ball is where the play is. Frick the WR. The ball could be underthrown and be an easy pick.
A DB not turning his head around to locate the ball is an unforgivable sin.

They were trying problem with that is when you turn your head you slow down, and when you are beat the one thing you can’t afford is to lose speed. But STILL the play is to turn around.
