A great day as a dad in the stand yesterday afternoon.

Thought I’d share a fun weekend story. I really enjoy greeting news people into hunting and the outdoors. This weekend I took my son, daughter, and a couple of their friends to the camp to hunt, shoot, and ride 4 wheelers.
I got the privilege so hunt with my daughter this weekend while she killed her first deer. She short a doe at 100 yards with a 7 mag and made a shot that even the most experienced hunters would be proud of.
She had a bet with her brother and his friend of who was killing something first. Five minutes after she won, my son busted a hog with a rifle I handed down to him that was handed down to me from my grandfather.
Then 3 minutes after that his friend shot his first buck. It was a young 4 pt, but to see the excitement of that young man was worth it.
We ended the night eating deer meat and shooting machine guns. Needless to say the kids are hooked and has a blast!

How old is your daughter? Jesus... Over kill!
I've dedicated this season to taking my kids and their friends hunting. Ages vary from 6 years old to 10. We have killed 4 racked bucks and few does. Lots of camp fires, go fish and uno games.
6 year old got his first duck last weekend, water swatted a teal!
By far my favorite season I have ever had... Added a few gray hairs though!

I won’t disagree that 7mag was a lot for a 16 yr old, but it’s what I had. I borrowed a 7mm-08 for her, but never got to put it on a bench to check on it before the hunt.
The machine gun 30 round mag dumps were for sure a highlight. They all made sure to get videos of each other doing that!

That sounds like a good time, Charley. Kids are what it’s about for me these days too. Props for being a good Dad.

I have made my opinion as well as Madison's opinion clear on this site. A 7 mag at 100 yards for a doe is absolutely insane... I previously posted about unethical hunters letting their young kids take shots that they were not ready to take which would be the glass floor of my stance. Now I have a hunter basically letting his kid nuke a doe at 100 yards and then brag about a bunch of kids shooting immature deer. Im at a loss right now... I never thought we as louisianans would get here. I am a libertarian but it is time for the government to step in and regulate children hunting in our great state. As I have stated before, I have active communication with Madison and this will be addressed.

Can you be specific about this facet of your non-libertarianism?? No spikes? Weight minimum? When you hunt public land, not everyone has the approach of "needs another year", antlers don't mean jack to people looking for meat. Maybe you mean something different, just asking.

Absolutely. There should be greater regulations on public land. I look out for the state as a whole. If we let everyone shoot a buck, regardless of age on public land.. we are going to run into an issue. If you are looking for meat, shoot a doe… which is what me and my baws do.

I really hope 318's post is sarcasm......I think its great you got the kids out and they all had a good time. First you have to get kids interested and hooked on hunting, management etc will come with experience and guidance. I didn't know a 7 mag was way too much gun for deer, I shot one for 40 years
. Amazing,,especially when the 35 is recommended a lot on here. Get those kids out and have a good time.

I was thinking the exact same thing .
He needs to be more careful when switching accounts.

Brag post, son's 1st deer Posted by Taxman201012/27/24 at 7:15 pm to Huntinguy No, I just want to wait until his kid has enough experience to avoid flesh wounding a deer and then shooting another through the hind quarters. Don’t really care about travel ball or video games. My proposition to Madison was to set a minimum age of 16 years old to kill a deer and also pass a shooting exam which would involve hitting the 12” diameter target at 100 yards.

You and Maddie can both suck a dick.
This dude comes here with a great story about getting his kids and their friends in the woods, they are successful hunting, and had fun and were safe. That’s a problem?
No you’re the problem and you should keep your stupid arse thoughts to yourself.
