Who has more lore behind them within the program?

Well one has the arena named after him, but Shaq is an all time alumni & gives back a lot. I’d probably go recently with Shaq

Lore is Pistol. It’s like a story time listening to all the tales of him being a wizard.
Nobody here really saw him play at LSU.

Hard to hate on shaq but Pistol Pete is a legend in COLLEGE
Now as far as their contribution to NBA careers obviously Shaq wins in a landslide

Pete was before my time so he's more of a mythical figure for me.
like a Babe Ruth would be in baseball.
Just a god that was hanging out with mere mortals.
I'm not much younger than Shaq so I remember him well at LSU.
Shaq was dominant and amazing to see, but there is just something about legends before your time that just have a special aura about them.

Pete played on the freshman team before large crowds. When the frosh game was over a lot of fans left when the varsity played.

I think this depends on the age of the person you’re asking this to

I disagree. I saw most of his senior season home games

Pete was a much better basketball player at lsu than shaq was.

Saw both. Pete and it’s not even close.

Why is this so funny. Less than 2% of people posting on here ever saw him play at LSU. I’m 65. I was 10 years old when he was drafted in the NBA. I never saw him play while at LSU, and I seriously doubt many others my age range did either. I mean…. basketball games weren’t televised much back then and not many kids my age had the ability to see him in person.
