I have a 20ga benelli m1 super 90. I’ve had it for 20 years and it’s never shot right. Has an issue where the bolt won’t go all the way forward when it cycles. I’ve tried everything and sent it to benelli. They have worked on it and sent it back and it still does the same.

I’m thinking of going to bass pro and trading it in and buying another 20ga. Want it for mostly dove but maybe the occasional duck hunt.

Honestly, that should be an easy problem to find and repair. The guts in a benelli are simple as shite.

I have a Beretta A400 Xplore and it’s been great.

At least I think that’s what it is. Haven’t done much bird hunting this year but it’s probably 10-12 years old so I may be off on the exact model number.

Was thinking the monetfeltro but didn’t know if it was “too nice” to duck hunt with?

Benelli m2

I bought a left handed one recently and took it out the other day… it’ll be my go to gun from now on. It’s super light, even with the 28” barrel, and with the extended choke, I don’t feel like I lose much effectiveness stepping down from a 12ga. I absolutely loved my sbe2 12ga, but it got a case of the “benelli click”. Bought a sbe3 12ga and it just doesn’t shoot like the 2, so I never really liked it. But the little M2 20ga got me fired back up to shoot some birds.

REM 1100 lt. had it for 35 years. It never would cycle. Gunsmith this year replaced a $15 part and bent something into shape. It now cycles any ammo I feed it.

Buy a Wolff +25 recoil spring and it'll fix that problem. It'll cost you bout $20 including shipping and about 30mins of your time. For the record Browning Mag Twenty Auto 5, Benelli M2 20, Beretta 391 20, Winchester SX3 20. There's the basic list of the greatest semi auto 20's ever made. As for today, SX4, Beretta Ultima 20, are 2 great options that are well priced and reliable

Does not compute.

No gun is too nice to use for anything

Beretta a400 and franchi affinity will cycle anything. The benellis are finicky in my experience. I saw this knowing the franchi and benelli are essentially the same, but I’ve found the cheaper franchi more reliable

How so? A gun is made to use, not worship.

I will drag my synthetic pump gun around in a boat/blind/atv. I would not do the same to my vintage wingmaster, or any high grade o/u.
Certain tools are made for certain jobs. I don't drive nails with a screwdriver.

My brain doesn't work that way. Nice guns are built for use and abuse. They can take it. Make it a family treasure by putting your marks on it.

That's weird. I have a late '60s 1100 20ga. handed down from my Dad.
It has had thousands of rounds cycled through it, and I have never witnessed it jam once. Maybe the later ones had some issues.
I know Remington went to shite in the 2000's onward, but thought they were pretty solid up until then.
