just wondering. There is obviously an effect from the caffeine. Was curious if anyone has personally noticed any benefit by not drinking for a few months or more.

Not coffee per say, but I did quit drinking caffeine about 20 yrs ago. Sleep is better and just feel better in general. If I accidently have some caffeine, it makes me feel terrible: shakes, headaches, heart rate spikes. I know 777 will be in this thread shortly touting all the benefits of caffeine, but I avoid it at all costs.

if it makes you feel like that avoid it. caffeine overall is good for you in terms of all cause mortality and performance but if it makes you feel like shite, i would argue its prolly a negative overall.

some people are sensitive AF to things. I dont actually drink much coffee...i am sensitive to that version of caffeine

i also do zero caffeine after 2 as it affects my sleep if i do

3 kids under 10, work 45-60 hr/wk, gym 5-6 a week. I would literally rather give up food than caffeine

I never started. Caffeine is second most studied supplement behind creatine. It works and isn’t bad for you in normal doses. I get mine from a pre workout supplement. Others may choose coffee or capsules. It all works the same.

Never. A hot cup of black coffee in the morning is one of my simple pleasures in life

I cut it cold turkey and switched to a bump of cocaine first thing in the morning. I’ve never been more productive.

I used to drink caffeine all day.
Then switched to one coffee in the morning at 5 am, and energy drink on way to gym for 6 am. Then no more rest of the day.
Recently I started drinking hot tea (k-cups) in the morning instead of coffee and on off days, no energy drink after.

Days with no coffee or caffeine, I’m relaxed, at peace, not easily agitated, traffic doesn’t bother me (as much) and I’m very patient with my wife and kid.
Caffeine has always easily affected me so I’m trying to figure the rest out.

I have been forced to try. Over the years I have consumed copious amounts of coffee, way more than the average person. Never noticed a negative during that time really, and love the taste of black coffee so it was a win-win, until recently.

About a year ago I started noticing some issues, super jittery/anxious and also digestive issues from it. Cut back a bit and did ok for a bit but eventually tried cutting it completely, I was not prepared for those withdrawals. Extreme fatigue and body/muscle aches that were debilitating. Had a cup of coffee and all symptoms were gone in about 30 mins. Ended up weaning off slowly, and switched to a swiss water process decaf after a couple weeks.

Haven't managed to kick the decaf yet though as the itch for it in the morning has been too strong, but I intend to soon. There is some interesting stuff about people quitting caffeine/coffee over on reddit.

I think I am going to try and make it my New Years resolution. I seem to be super sensitive to caffeine. Jitters, anxiousness, etc. My brain function and mood were definitely significantly better during college when i didn't consume any caffeine.
