Does lateness make anyone else irrationally angry?

Waiting on a childhood friend right now so we can go shoot clay pigeons. Always do this on Black Friday and Christmas Eve. My car is in the shop so he had to drive.
Was supposed to get picked up at 10:00 but I can see he hasn’t left his house yet. Unfortunately this is a friend who is chronically late. Still sitting here, no call or anything saying he’s running behind. Do people who do this not think to themselves that to people who are on time, it makes them seem like they have zero respect for other people’s time? We go in the mid morning so we can be back with enough time to get rest and get ready for Christmas Eve dinner with our families.
The older I get the more people not being able to meet certain deadlines, or let people know if they’re going to be late, drives me up the wall. My dad and I are 100% “if you’re not 10 minutes early you’re late type of people”.

Not so much the lateness, it's the lack of caring how it affects others.

Sounds like you and I couldn't be friends then.

Yeah, it drives me nuts to have to wait on someone

If it did I would have divorced years ago. Its almost a daily experience.

100%
But why do you have your “friend’s” location?

People who arrive late, have the most fun.

Lateness is a pet peeve of mine

Yes if he’s consistently doing it, it’s absolutely him saying that he does not respect your time.
Have you told him this? If it’s me, at some point we just can’t do things together anymore. Probably just become “distant friends”.

My Aunt and cousins are notoriously late all of the time. They showed up an hour late for Thanksgiving and they think it’s funny. My Grandmother gave them the business over it but they don’t care.
This year we’re going to have the SK on Christmas Day but then we have to go to the SO’s parents afterward. I’ve already let them know if they’re late we may not still be there (we’ve all planned on 4:00 pm for the time).
I’m fricking over accommodating them as it’s disrespectful as shite to everyone else when you expect shite to not start until you get there.

Late people can go F themselves. They need their own world. Totally clueless pieces of shite, all of them.
We have some family we tell the time we are eating for Thanksgiving/Christmas about 90 minutes prior to the real time because they are NEVER on time.

Hey I'm reading TD, calm your arse down, I'll be there in a bit.

Your friend is telling you his time is more valuable than your time. Address it with him in that way instead of just giving him a hard time about being late. It is usually eye opening when they are confronted in how selfish being late is.

You should have told him to pick you up at 9.

My wife’s family is awful with being on time to anything and it drives me insane. I love them but man it’s so dang frustrating.
Their go to response when they can tell I’m annoyed is “well it’s not that big of a deal I’m sure no one cares” which makes me even more annoyed

Just different values today. If everyone is late, then nobody can hold it against each other.
My family grew up military, so I was raised with the “if you’re not 15 minutes early, you’re late” thing.
Every Zoom meeting, every flight I take, every laborer that comes to the house - late, late, late. It’s very frustrating, but I just try to set a good example and always show up on time or early. Hell I’ve even been reprimanded for being early because it “makes other look bad.”

Depends on what it’s for.
If it’s important or really matters, then yeah it bothers me
But casual stuff. Nah. That’s one of those pick and chose your battles kind of things. Too many other things that are worth worrying about

It's not irrational to get angry over this. Those late people are douchebags.
Yep, and there is always an excuse. But it sounds like you're going to have to start declining the invites.
