Wasn't Peyton Todd a top punter coming out of HS?

Why such a struggle in college? Hopefully he can make in the league if that's the direction he takes.

A lot of people are great in HS

He got the yips after an injury. Still can't beleive that's a thing for punting. He had nfl hangtime, distance in high school

He was hitting those 35 yard bombs during the season

A shoe salesman in Chicago scored 4 TD’s in one game.

One would think punting and kicking would be easier to project at the next level. Your competition has no bearing on how well you kick/punt

Well that's not entirely true. I'd imagine the rush is a lot quicker in college, and they probably attempt to block more often in college, so you don't have as much time to get the punt off. For a mental position like kicker/punter that extra stress can make a lot of difference if you're trying to rush the kick more than you had to in HS. You can probably afford to take more time to really put some leg into it in HS, time that you aren't afforded in college.

I would think it would be a lot more difficult to predict. Kicking is 90% between the ears, can’t always predict how someone will react in those situations when the bright lights are on in an SEC stadium.

#1 in the country iirc

He is very suspect when it comes to holding on field goals as well. Between him, Ramos, and the long snapper it was an adventure.

When is the last time West Monroe sent a decent athlete to LSU?

Not as adventurous as fielding punts a couple years back.

What was his injury?

They don’t have that type athlete any longer, recruiting has taken a hit the last 10 years. Used to get errybody, now days the get nobody

Maybe he can go to a program with a ST coach and figure it out.

And the fact that he wasn’t kicking in front of 85,000 to 100,000 fans in high school either.

Try catching a snap from a high school snapper, a college snapper, and an nfl snapper.
Its fricking scary. The difference is so real. Plus the release times go from about 2 seconds to like 1.2

who apparently got coached down. How else does a kicker get substantially worse?
