My coworker is a simple, sweet, but kinda kooky older lady nearing retirement (no pics - you dont want to see anyways). We try to help her with "techy" stuff like iPhone updates, email/printer trouble, etc. Typical boomer technology issues. This morning she sent the following email out to myself and another colleague who has assisted in the past.

Read for yourself but I dont think this is a "hack" I think her husband got caught. I don't feel like I have the heart to tell her whats going on.

quote:

My husband's phone was some how hacked and there were a lot of inappropriate messages sent out to different people love letters and such which caused a few insecure wives to deal there husband's a lot of miseries one lady left here husband do to this just wondering how it happened was told by the company tec person it's easy to do if the hackers have your number which my husband and coworkers business have every employees numbers sad people cause these problems

What say you, OT? Side with the husband's hacker story or shoot this old bird straight?

Fire her for general retardation. The spelling, grammar, and lack of paragraphs is more than enough cause for termination

Don't tell her. Because if you do, she'll confront him and he'll talk his way out of it and since she's naive, she'll believe him and it will all somehow fall back on you.

Sounds like maybe she knows what's going on but is trying to save face. Just go along with whatever she says.

Does he have a nice boat to lose in the divorce (that may subsequently be available for cheap)?

Why would you voluntarily get involved in this drama?

You leave it as a toss up and let her decide what she probably already knows. Sounds like the beginning of a HR trap
