The filler songs for the albums are eight minutes long.

Rush: Why No Female Fans?
quote:
If Rush can’t get any female fans, how can Tool and Phish? I explored the bands lyrics, and stage persona to see if I could get any answers.Tool has morbidly dark lyrics; Phish’s lyrics run the gamut from mythical stories, to goofy lyrics about an ugly pig.Rush’s lyrics have J.R.R Tolkien references, anagrams in songs and stories of futuristic societies.I think that Rush overly dorked themselves in the lyric department attracting the D&D playing, male fan-base. Phish came close but squeaked by and got placed in the quirky and witty lyric category.Tool’s lyrics are downright scary. Perhaps females are drawn to Tool like the guy in high school who your dad didn’t want you to date.

Rush’s 3 most popular songs are about a modern day Tom Sawyer do you own thing kind of person, a tribute to and criticism of modern FM radio, and how one deals with being famous.
There are many more songs along this area than that crap lazy arse journalists always point to. Why? Because that’s what they’ve heard in every other article and they don’t do quality work.
Rush are nerdy though. That coupled with a rhythm section that can be hard (unless you want to hurt yourself) to dance to equals less women.

That's because most prog rock bands shun rock convention, and rely more on jazz and classical influences.
