Harlem Berry and Solomon Thomas.

Not shocked. 247 doing 247 things.

Both are still 5 stars on the only relevant recruiting platform On3.

I know this is not important. Just venting.

stars don't mean a damn thing other than boosting ego's and making people feel better about themself.

The whole star system has been worthless for a while, especially with them arbitrarily only allowing there to be 32 of them. It's stupid.

There are good years and there are bad years.

Stars matter in the macro, but not the micro.

The idea that a player like Harlem Berry, who has been in the spotlight for 4 years, been to every camp, been worked out dozens of times by scouts, has dominant film with virtually no decrease in production, would be knocked DOWN at this late stage of the game should show what a bullshite system it is.

There is no legit reason for that to happen.

Berry was never a 5 star on 247

Neither are composite 5 stars anymore if that’s what you’re referencing

The star rating system is based on NFL potential. A 5-star rating is an indication the athlete will be a 1st round pick; limiting the number to 32 corresponds to 32 NFL teams. A 4-star rating is an indication that the athlete will be chosen in any round.

the amount of blue chip recruits in the transfer portal right now should tell you that this does not matter.

The composites mean absolutely nothing. Any time ESPN recruiting is used to factor anything it’s immediately void to me. I don’t think they’ve ever even tried. 247 has severely declined over the years.

Just go with whatever On3 says, but in the end it’s all for the players and fans and making a buck.

who cares what a bunch of butterball analysts think about a 17 year old that they've likely never seen in person

Too many 4 & 3 stars. The 33rd ranked player in the nation shouldn’t have the same stars as the 250th ranked player. Rethink the grading system. Either go up to 6, 7 stars or grade them by potential (ex. 1st-7th rd pick, Power 4 starter, D1 starter, D2 starter etc) 5 levels (stars) isn’t enough to differentiate 1500 players. Especially if one level is only reserved for 32 people.

LSU fans gotta buy more subscriptions; it’s all about clicks for 247 at this stage.

Kids are rated on a 1.000 scale. We should use that instead of stars. But to my knowledge that rating is relatively new (less than a decade)

A scale of 10 (or 100) makes more sense to me.

Once again, the whining and conspiracy theorizing about 247 being out to get LSU is demonstrably idiotic.

Berry literally never had 5 stars on 247 (which is just because RBs don't often get taken in the 1st round anymore - he was still their RB1), and Solomon Thomas lost his 5th star 2 months before committing to us lmao.

I swear to god it's shocking that some of you guys are able to function in the world with so many people out to get you.

And it’s fricking stupid. If the kid has the measurable and performance to be a 5 star he should be a 5 star. Some years you have 50 some you might only have 20.

The primary care of the services is selling subscriptions so you get this arbitrary bull shite.

It is funny to look back at a few of their assessments. First, Jayden Daniels was a very low 4* when transferring. Of course it is legitimate to think he can improve at the time which he did. The funnier example is Will Campbell who I remember was 5* the entire season and then suddenly on the last re-rating,247 dropped him to a 4*. Guess they should have stuck with 5* huh? To be fair to them, W Howard was rated a 5* the entire HS season and they dropped him to a 4*. Appears they should have even dropped him to a 3* since he has been a bust...under the assessment of 2 coaching staffs. Howard wasn't even 2nd string at Ole Miss for example.
