I realize there are pop ups, but anyone have any definitive must try or traditional holiday cocktails to try from New Orleans bars? Wife and I are doing a single kid-free night tomorrow and Saints game Sunday. We’re dining at Toups tomorrow evening and staying on St. Charles, but don’t mind venturing into the FQ.

The Roosevelt is the answer. The lights and ambience of the lobby, with a Sazerac for you, and a Ramos gin fizz for her. That’s what you’re looking for.

The wife will prob want a Christmas cookie martini instead at Roosevelt.

I love the look on the bartenders face when people order a gin fizz during Christmas when in the weeds w ten deep at the bar.

Can you stop here to just grab drinks? (Let’s say for 3 couples).
Or is it more of a restaurant setting?

Yes you can. The wife and I will be there for drinks tomorrow night. Just tell them that you only want drinks and they will sit you near the bar.

Blondie & I stopped in @ Tableau today for apps & a couple cocktails, she had a couple French 75’s, I had a couple Rye Old Fashioneds. Also had the French Onion Soup, generally considered the best in the city…

I wouldn't stay there all night, but if you're jumping around, I had an extremely good winter cocktail at Justine before dinner a few nights ago:

Pomme Brisée
Bourbon, Allspice Dram, apple shrub, lemon, cinnamon demerara

Don’t expect much ambiance at the Roosevelt. There was about a billion people in there at any point this weekend.

I had the Roosevelt number one on my list but the Christmas decorations were a lot more impressive when the whole lobby was a white cotton tunnel with lights.
