When ? When?

You only fire Willie if you want to look at Borego as head coach, the season is lost so firing him hoping to turn things around just gets you worse lottery odds.
As for Griff, the organization will probably wait until the end of the year.

We all want to see Borego…..we all do

I don’t agree with this ,
Team needs a full reset. If you know, Willie is not the guy then move on let Borrego coach the rest of the year. But keeping an interim on as we move into the future is going to do nothing to change the culture or expectations which is what is desperately needed

Let Willie finish out the year.
He, unlike Rizzi, is tanking correctly.

Willie is a great tank commander. Let him finish the season then fire him.
Griff should get serious consideration to be canned ASAP. If you know you’re going to go in a different direction, remove Griffin from a position where he could frick up even more before the new guy is in place.

I’m fine with that and would agree, but if Borego gets guys to play and wins…then we know.

I want this, but I fear borrego would actually rip off a 15 game winning streak and piss me off

Isn't that worth knowing though? I still can't believe they didn't give Finch a shot while they had him. Borrego doesn't have Finch's up and coming boy genius resume, but he is considered a good offensive tactician that also has head coaching experience. I only think he's coached one or 2 games here without Willie, but IIRC the team looked better each time.

The problem with keeping Willie and tanking, which is the right move in the grand scheme of things, is what this pathetic showing we keep seeing every single game is doing to the development of our young players. What is this losing and pitiful play doing to players like Trey and Missi and Hawkins and Murray?
We look like we just don't care, and I just don't think that's a good thing for the players mentality. I'd rather Willie get fired now and we see what Borego can do for these guys. We are still too talented to finish worse than the Wizards, Jazz, Blazers, Hornets, Pistons, unless we legit don't let Zion and BI play the rest of the season.
We're finishing bottom 8 no matter what more than likely. Bottom 6 is pretty much the same odds to win the lottery or top 4 pick.
I'm at the point now where I'm not interested in trading anyone at the deadline, although I wouldn't be upset if they sent Zion out if there's a good return out there for him. I'd rather make the decisions on BI and Zion in the offseason, and I'm hoping i'ts not Griff making the decision.
But we have to trade someone at the deadline.
Right now we are at $174,325.935 salary for the year. That's including Payton and Nowell's $200Kish salaries.
I do'nt know the specifics of Murray's $700K incentive, but he has to play 65 games to get it, which means he can't miss another game all season to get it b/c he's already missed 17 games.
The tax line is $170,814,000
So we are $3,511,935 over the tax. There is a 100% chance we do somethign to get under it.
Karlo and JRE make $3.6M. If not that combo going out with no return, it would need to be 2 of JRE/Green/Theis going out with no return. Or you trade Zion or BI and take back the $3.5M less than you send out.

I ran the numbers a few weeks ago, you have to have 14 on the roster which means the small cuts aren't going to be enough, you'd still be a few hundred thousand over the tax IIRC. Basically you have to make a Hawkins or larger trade with less salary coming back.
My money is still on CJ. Lue Dort must hate the Pelicans because he has single-handedly killed Brandon Ingram's trade value twice in the last year.

Didnt' think about that, but you're right. So they have to move a high dollar salary.
There's no way it's Trey or Herb or Missi or Hawkins, and seriously doubt it would be Murray after just aquiring him.
That leaves fatass, mr. glass and CJ.
The problem with moving CJ is you'd want to move him to a team that wants him for the playoffs, but that team has to be a team that also can take on more salary than they send out.
That means no trades with these teams
Boston
Denver
LAL
Miami
Bucks
Wolves
Knicks
Philly
Suns
The Mavs and Warriors are too close to the hard cap apron for us to trade with them and get under the tax.
Now we can trade with all of those teams but we would then need a 3rd team to take on salary so we get under the tax.
But when you remove those teams and then look at teams that would want CJ for the playoffs you get
Houston
Cleveland
Clippers (unlikely considering they are just a hair over the tax and likely want to get under it)
Memphis
OKC
Orlando
SAC
ATL
Indiana
maybe Spurs
Looking at those teams, I doubt any of them are interested in CJ except maybe Memphis or Orlando.
Smart/Kennard for CJ gets everyone under the tax.
Goga/Cole Anthony/Anthony Black for CJ works as well, though not sure Orlando would want to give up that young talent for CJ. I'm not sure how much they like Black, but he was the 6th overall pick last year.

Yes it is. Problem is you have a circular firing squad. If Griff pulls trigger on Coach Green, he knows he is likely gone too. If Griff goes, so does the staff including Borrego. It is hard to stay with Coach Green (although by metrics, he has improved each year in win totals, except this year which has unaccountable injuries), but the eye test also strongly indicates that development, team and individuals, are not and have not gotten better and games have been won on talent and progressive experience. I don't think current iteration of Pels gets significantly better even at full health with the current regime so .......

Why did you leave off the Pistons?
I heard someone talk about this and it made so much sense. He has a connection with Pistons management. They have the cap space to take him in without sending back a ton of salary. They need more shooting and a strong vet influence. They are on the cusp of the play in. It seems like a great fit..

Do not let griff handle the next rebuild at all costs

I'm looking at OKC too. A vet that could come off the bench and shoot. Give up some of them picks as well.

They have to send back salary.
Who are they giving up? I doubt they'd want to give up 3 guys for CJ, and I can't see them trading Dort/Joe for CJ.
Dort/Joe/Wiggins are all shooting 38% or better from 3 this year.
They dont' need the creation of CJ when SGA is so ball dominant, and JWilliams is rising.

B/c they aren't giving up draft picks in any trade, they don't have 1sts outside of their own, and their 2025 pick goes to Minny if it's outside of the top 13 picks. I doubt they are trying to win more than they already are this year.

Orlando is a possible option. I also think Detroit/ Brooklyn could end up with him. I'd rather move both CJ and Zion.
If you know you are getting assets from Zion then it might be worth it to spend a 1st with CJ to get a player.
Isaiah Stewart + Tim Hardaway Jr
for
CJ + Theis + 1st
Or just Stewart
