All this run and hide talk about scheduling twinkies up front is hilarious. Never thought I'd see LSU faithful take that approach. If our coach can't get us ready to dominate Clemson on day 1, then how the heck is he going to get us ready for a playoff run after the gauntlet of the SEC? Assume we're in the hunt, you think Latech, Southeastern and WKU will bolster our SOS when the committee starts lining up the playoffs in November? Nut up!

No one is scared. BK factually hasn’t won an opening game at LSU. Why continue to schedule these big games if there’s no real incentive? Committee has made it clear

Today’s LSU fans are scared of traffic. So there’s that.

Im scared. Committee doesnt care about who you beat.

Lose to clemson by 3 on the road will be held against.
Beat Idaho by 7 at home and youll keep your ranking

I’d much rather play a strong regular season schedule with a smaller chance of getting into the playoffs than a garbage regular season schedule and a guarantee that the exciting games will only come if we make the playoffs. This is the same crowd that used to whine about Florida being our permanent opponent. Be thankful you get to pull for a team that plays multiple high profile games a year.

If your judging by the last three years of outcomes of opening games then clearly the answer is simply no.

Scheduling cupcakes while you have to play the meat of the SEC is just smart. These games like Clemson are purely money grabs.

You answered your own question. The SEC gauntlet is more than enough to get you ready for any playoff

We’d be an elite G5 team. Put us in the American with Tulane. We’d have a true rival and we’d be done with SEC politics that consistently keep us out of the playoffs.

Not scared, but team with two losses or less from the SEC will more than likely make it in.

I just hate people who see the “solution” here to be let’s emulate the teams playing all cupcakes versus, let’s try to find a way to force other teams to do what we are doing, that way it’s all much more equalized and we aren’t left with a complete four game slate of dreadful pointless meaningless matchups.

We are at the mercy of the CFP. There is no way to “force other teams” to do anything. If everyone on the road wants to drive 69 mph in a 70 mph zone (playing cupcakes), you or I passing them at 85 mph is not going to make them want to speed up. Especially when we have been pulled over a mile up ahead (the equivalent of losing to USC)

This sport is pure business now, so looking at it through the lens of the old competition based mindset is a sure fire way to lose. You have to look at things through the lens of business. The incentives are there to cancel the game. It's just good business.

They are regulating and dictating all sort of shite amongst schools. They can easily set some OOC scheduling guidelines.

I do think that it is more beneficial to schedule weaker OOC opponents this day and age. It’s got nothing to do with being scared. It’s all about risk and reward.

That being said, USC turned out to not be a very good team this year, and we had ample opportunities to take control of our destiny and we didn’t do it.

We take care of them and Florida like we should have, and we are most likely in.

Not to mention, the weak OOC schedule didn't help Ole Miss get into the playoffs.

I want to see a game between two good programs, not a scrimmage against Southeastern
