Lost the two biggest games SO FAR. Playoffs against SMU is Franklin's next opportunity to lose the big one.

Same could be said for Ohio St.

And Tennessee.

Georgia has looked like hot poo for weeks now and gets the #2 seed.

Welcome to the 12, and soon be 16 team playoff.

And only have to beat SMU and Boise to make the semifinals. They actually got a great path too.

And be seeded ahead of a team you lost to even though both teams have the same number of losses.

In Texas defense they did beat a bad Michigan team that beat Ohio St and I do think teams like Arkansas,Texas A&M, Vandy are a little bit tougher than Purdue, Northwestern, Rutgers let's just the bottom of the SEC is alot tougher than the BIG 10.

I get the hate for James Franklin but if they fire him they could easily end up like Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas (pre Sark) and others. Its ok not to win a national championship every year.

How can you tell? The SEC had 2 wins against nonconference ranked teams all year (UGAG vs. Clemson at the start, SC vs Clemson at the end.

Who did any of those teams beat to prove they are better? They are better because to top SEC teams are weaker? or all SEC teams are better because it just means more

Penn State didn't play NW or Rutgers

UCLA
@USC
Washington
@Wisconsin
Illinois (ranked)
@Purdue
Maryland
Ohio State
@Minnesota
@WVU

How is that any worse than Texas Schedule?

Alot of these teams are waking up to not playing these tough out of conference games. I mean Michigan versus Texas was a ranked game to start the season and so was LSU/ USC. Hell Oregon/Ohio st was out of conference before Oregon jumped ship unexpectedly. Let's just say it was a down year for the SEC but to reward teams like Ohio St, Indiana, Penn St and saying a two lost Ohio St and a one Loss Indiana are just so much better then South Carolina with three losses. Pull up that new Big 10 conference there are 8 or 9 bad teams and 2 mid tier and 3 good teams then look at the SEC this year the worst were Miss St, Auburn, Kentucky. Kentucky beat Georgia and Auburn should have beat some good teams. Now do you think Purdue or Northwestern were upsetting anybody at the top of the Big 10? Let's just the parity in the SEC is much closer and the records show it.

The benefit of having James Franklin is it's almost a guarantee that they will be in the playoffs almost every year from here on out. Maybe things align to where they can win it all eventually?

If they fire him, perhaps it can be a Mark Richt to Kirby Smart situation. On the other hand, it's much more likely they end up like the Charlie Strong era Texas.

Penn State didn't really beat anyone of note but got the easiest path to the Finals.....and were rewarded with a huge advantage Happy Valley game.

They lucked out....but James Franklin has always been lucky when it comes to football.

James Franklin ain't going nowhere. Why would he? One of the highest paid coaches to never make a playoff now with the expansion to twelve teams he is almost guaranteed it ever year. I am sure he will get some kind of bonus too every time he makes the playoff also. Win Win

Or you could have the job at Bama and lose THREE games and demand a playoff berth.
