Greyhound from Baton Rouge to Houston. Any recent experiences?

Asking for a colleague who wishes to travel to Houston using Greyhound/Flixbus. He understands it might be worse than Spirit airlines without wings. But, how bad it is? Are buses generally on time?

Just surviving the Baton Rouge bus station will be a miracle.

Yeah, I wouldn’t do this.

Hope he has a ride for when he gets there. The Houston greyhound station is even sketchier than the BR one

I had to ride the bus a few times in 2016. It’s not terrible. It was on time, the busses were clean, never felt unsafe.
I did have an instance where a guy was obviously free out of jail. Jeans and white T, shirt, all possessions in a plastic bag, needed to use my phone to let ‘his people’ know that he was out. I let him use it on one of the stops but kept him close until he gave it back.
The busses were less than 25% full and it was an easy ride. I’d do it again if I needed to.

I can’t imagine a cheap flight from MSY or BTR will be much more money but in any event you would have to sedate me to get me on that bus. I’d rather hitchhike

I told him to rent a car. But, he is new in US and has no drivers license yet.
(He is legal international student).

Had a buddy in the military do this to get to BR for my wedding years ago. He is used to rough conditions being overseas. He said it was one of the worst experiences he'd ever had. He came from this same route. Best of luck to your bud lol

Chances are he’s seen worse than a Greyhound.

I did this about 20 years ago to visit my brother when my car was in the shop. Never again. I think I was the only American on the bus. I felt like I was being coyoted.
To top it off, the guy sitting next to me kept ripping bombs. I think he was blaming them on me in Spanish due to the way people kept looking at me.
Would not recommend.

Be prepared for lots of requests to buy/sell drugs at the Houston station.

Don’t know much about Greyhound other than it seems to be a good way for an assassin to move around with limited footprint.
