Walk to the next town.
Remember when you thought cops were decent people?
She was obviously in distress and needed help. She's running from someone. They don't take her in and fill out a report, they tell her to keep walking on the side of the highway at night.
She was protected and served.

I understand having a policy to not be a taxi but come on, surely there could have been an exception.

How can they leave an obviously intoxicated person on the side of the road? Should be fired.

The 2 miles to the gas station would have been much quicker than the amount of time they spent talking about it

Nah, it goes beyond that. That’s not even being a decent human being.

Catch and release for non-criminals doesn’t generate any revenue. Simple business decisions at play. Collect and serve.

25 yo blonde with nice boobs would have gotten a ride.

So whats the solution? cops should pick up every person walking down the road needing a ride?

I’d rather that than writing bs tickets all day

I have never thought cops were any different than the general population. There are really good cops who do a great job and there are cops who are shite people. They are not all equal.
Also, they do have to deal with a lot of shite and there will be times when they don't make the best decisions. I think thats just being human.

There goes that damned 90% of bad cops giving the others a bad name again

That’s sort of my sentiment as well. The issue for me is when she is basically reporting domestic violence. So even if the cop wasn’t lying and he couldn’t fit her shite in his car, call another unit to take her in and fill out a DV report or something. Telling a clearly drunk woman to keep walking and just avoid the white line is stupid as frick.

When the modern bureaucratic “ these are the rules “ mindset overwhelms the “ my brother’s keeper “ protect and serve ideal, this is what happens.
Too many rules , too many rigid protocols, etc are a nice excuse people use in modern society to turn their back on others. It’s good to leave a little room for humans to be humans.

It was not a good decision but not all police officers are like that. I had car trouble on the way to work one morning and called for a tow truck. A sheriff's deputy who was passing by stopped and waited with me until the tow truck arrived. I thanked him and he said that he has a wife, mom, and 2 daughters. He tries to treat women the way he would want an officer to treat them. I'm pretty sure he would have given the woman a ride.

Not every person, but clearly drunk people walking alone on a dark road at midnight claiming to be fleeing domestic abuse, sure.
You’re fricking retarded if you think what the cops did here was acceptable, end of story.
