Which luxury brand would you recommend?
Rolex
IWC Schaffhausen
Tissot
Breitling
Citizen
Tag Huer
Tudor
Seiko
Omega
Movado
Vacheron Constantin
Patek Philippe
Hublot

Or something else?

Looking to reward myself for crypto rising and spend between 10-20k on a watch. Currently the most expensive one I have is a Rolex Submariner Date so looking for an upgrade from that.

Get you a nice Invicta. The MSRP on them is like $8,000 but you can get it from an infomercial on MSNBC late night for $150. Huge discount!!!!!!!

Saw a dude flashing an Invicta around the Casino the other day like it was an AP and it just gave me a good chuckle.

I’ve got a couple movados and they are not in the same category as several of the rest.

I like the Rolex Sky Dweller. The gray market pricing has dropped a good hit so it’s in your range.

Are you willing to go used? Or new only?

Assuming you want an upgrade to the sub-date that is also a diving/date watch, I am throwing another brand in the mix. Blancpain.

Blancpain Bathyscape - 5000 1210 98S

Willing to go used but the used market seems overwhelmed with Rolex at the moment

You should invest in something that won’t get stolen

Well then you’re SOL. Patek would be an upgrade but you’re looking at way more than your budget most likely.

Breguet and JLC should be on your radar.

I would go Omega of all those in the list, if you must spend money.

Otherwise I'd get an Oris

A plain invicta isn’t a bad watch. I know that they’re like Gurkha cigars but they do their job and look nice enough.

Nothing wrong at all with Tissot, Citizen, Seiko (not Grand Seiko), Movado, but these aren't luxury brands and you can't really touch 10K with any of those, save for a couple of Tudors and most of there best watches are well under 10K. Had a few on my wrist today as I just got back from watch shopping.

Of this list, the only ones that really make sense to purchase at retail prices are Rolex and Patek Philippe, and then you may or may not run into an allocation problem, depending on where you live and what kind of relationship you have with an AD.

For Rolex in that price range, you can get any of the steel GMT except for the Pepsi if you are willing to pay a premium over RRP. A Pepsi will stretch your budget a little (New 24K, good recent 21-22K). BLNR (Batman/girl) can be had for 14-18K, depending on condition - these are mighty close to what you have already with a Sub Date, so maybe not your deal. Any number of DateJust models in that price range either Gray near or below RRP or from the AD with little to no wait if you get lucky. You can also grab a SS/WG SkyDweller in that price range def gray market and possibly from AD if that is your thing (42 mm, but has smooth edge curvier oyster case if you want something different from Sub/GMT/Expl II style case)

IWC tend to be bloated in their pricing, but this is a stealth watch person's watch. Very solid offerings, but again if you ask me, they have really hurt themselves with their pricing in their newest models. I think the new Ingenieur is excellent, but not at 11K. I've owned several over the years, the only IWC I have left is a Pilot's UTC that is a great little 38 mm pilot watch.

VC is in a similar boat to IWC, except that there are going to be some hot models that will trade over RRP, but those are allocation pieces and well above the 20K ceiling you set. There some excellent pieces to be had in 20-30K range particularly dress type (I'm a big fan of the Les Historiques line) watches that you can walk into a boutique and buy. I have an older model Overseas in the white textured dial that is a very nice piece, but have never loved it. The newer versions of this watch in precious metal cases are particularly nice, but you'd have to be willing to stretch that budget considerably.

Omega has such as huge variety of availability in that range, that as long as you don't mind some immediate value drop if you buy at RRP, you would have a ton to choose from, many very nice. Except for a very few new releases, you can find pretty much anything in there catalog for immediate purchase. I'm not a huge Omega fan, but have owned several, currently own one (Hesalite Speedy Moon cal. 3861), and there are several I would and might own at some point in time.

I think Breitling have a nice catalog that has recently gotten better, but again prepare to walk out taking a haircut if you buy at retail. I particularly like the Premier line, and particularly like them in precious metal. Despite not holding value, I think you get a pretty good bit for your money.

You don't mention JLC, but they have some nice stuff, but their pricing is extremely bloated these days. Also, Cartier has come on strong of late, and they have quiet a bit that provides you something different from the sub you have.

Tons of other brands, and I could go on and on on this topic, but its would help to know if you are wanting something dressier or sporty, whether or not you want something in precious metal, how you feel about straps vs bracelets, etc

Bonus watch shopping pics from today:

I love Omega but they’re not superior to his the Sub which is what he’s going for.
