Don’t let big turkey control you

Why do we continue to accept turkey as the main dish for Thanksgiving every year? I get it’s tradition, but it’s not even a top 5 meat. I’m sure somebody in your family cooks the best turkey ever, but be honest. At its very best it’s average every year and they have so many other better meals.

For the sandwiches and gumbo. Duh

Yea just as long as it’s something actually good. We had a midwestern guy make Goetta one year for the office dinner and it was fricking awful.

Chicken and sausage gumbo here. We aren't big turkey fans.

Because most people only eat Turkey one time a year (other than deli sliced).
I eat steak, roast, brisket, chicken, fish, lamb, duck, etc multiple times a year.

Nobody is forcing you to cook a turkey bro. But doing a big turkey dinner once or twice a year and having leftovers for the week after is pretty great

I made smothered turkey legs with bell peppers, onions and mushrooms. Cooked it till it was fall off the bone delicious. Used plenty of Tony's. Plain baked turkey blows.

We’re doing sea bass, filet, and asparagus.

Because we only eat it one time a year and that one time it is really good and gives plenty of leftovers.

There will be no turkey served in this house for Thanksgiving. Gumbo, potato salad, and crackers. Eat up!

We’ve been doing Steaksgiving for several years now and will never go back.

I switch it up. I've done lasagna, halibut, crab but my ham more than any.
Havent bought turkey in a couple of decades.

What the hell is wrong with you people? I’ve seen this shite all over the place. You eat turkey on Thanksgiving. If you want brisket or prime rib more power to you. But you aren’t shaming me for my juicy succulent gravy soaked bird. Just hush.

Firing up the charcoal in a couple hours for chicken thighs, pork chops, smoked sausage and hot dogs. I’ll eat leftover turkey and trimmings from someone else’s house tomorrow at deer camp. Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Just give me seafood gumbo for Thanksgiving

It needs to be seasoned well and dries out easy. I had turkey from the Butcher bbq stand in Minute Maid Park and that was some good seasoned and moist turkey.
