Time to start over...completely

It is officially time to start over. Our big 3 are liabilities and do not blend well. We have 105 million a year either on the bench or are flat out washed (CJ). CJ should be a 6th man at this point, but he has a fringe all-star contract.
You can't get much for any of the three, but you can start over and take whatever is made available to you. BI could be part of the core group longterm, but I'm convinced the offseason left a bad taste in his mouth and he will be looking to sign elsewhere. Perhaps he allows us to sign and trade, but I don't see that happening.
Hopefully, Z can come back and increase his value a bit, allowing the Pels to get something back in return. If not, they really need to consider cutting him and his 40+ mill per year. CJ won't bring in much of anything either, meaning we have some bad investments and made some errors along the way.
Tank and secure a top 5 pick. There are quite a few difference makers at the top of this draft. Clear your books, draft high and build around Herb, Trey, Murray and Missi. You won't be able to lure a top free agent, but if you hit in the draft, the core may not need one. You will have plenty of money to add significant free agent help, though. Then go get you a real coach.

And what GM are you putting in charge of this rebuild?

There’s a lot worse core four to have than those guys. Add in Hawkins and Jose, and maybe Boston as bench depth, and you aren’t in a terrible place.

Not Griff--that's for sure. He put this 1990's roster together. He didn't build a modern NBA roster and has drug his feet and cost the team quite a bit. I'm not familiar with a lot of up-and-coming executive types, so giving names isn't possible.

That's my line of thinking. It is a very solid group (and cheap) to build around.

I'd leave Alvarado in there also.

100% agree.
we can't have Zion and Missi in the lineup at the same time anyway and i love what im seeing early from Missi.
the cap wont be awful either but if we do this, do it now. Trade Z, see what you can get fro BI( im not opposed to keeping him depending on deal), and rebuild.
CJ can get moved next year, and we have to land a top 4 pick.
Biggest issue with the 4 young kids is that Murray is the only one who can create his own. That's a big problem.

Can’t wait to start over again… it’s like 7 year cycle for the last 20 something years.
I guess we’re due another rebuild from our half arsed rebuild

Should've kept Dyson. That's almost up there with trading away the fourth pick. But if we go ahead and blow it up now. Will have our veteran PG in Murray for the future like Jrue Holiday when we first drafted Zion and hopefully we hit on a high lottery pick. There is no redemption story or turnaround this year. These dudes are done.

Look at it this way. We're set up way better for a rebuild than we have been when we first had AD and then Zion. We have our SF, SG, and Center for the future, and we can get at least some sort of decent capital for Ingram, Zion, CJ, and Murray. Griffin just better not blow it. New Orleans won't be a dumpster fire for maybe a year or so if we go ahead and start over now and not waiting like we did with Lonzo instead of collecting assets.

Plus we as fans won't continuously year after year have to go through emotional turmoil waiting for this fat**** to finally get his sh*t together. We good in New Orleans. We have solid decent upstanding players that will play hard just like that playoff series against the Suns, it's just our so called star player that's holding everyone else back. When we could've been handed Ingram the team long ago. Would've gotten a couple playoff series out of it by now.

The hypocrisy on this board is glorious.
McCollum goes off for 30 points on over 40% 3pt against a great backcourt. He's washed and needs to go.
Ingram scores 25 and people want to give him a max extension.
I don't get how people look at our team and think that McCollum is the issue. We need professionals. That's what he is. He has delivered and we have won because of him. All of our success is tied to obtaining him..

This will piss me off more than anything. Was the biggest DD guy on here and we are gonna rebuild without what should have been a core piece for the rebuild.
Murray is in his late 20’s. Hes not really a rebuilding piece.

CJ is not good at defense and has cratered in our two playoff series…..

If you’re blowing it up, trade everyone you can for draft capital.

It's nuts. Cj always performs and is a great professional.

Yeah thats well and good. But he also makes 33 million and is 33 years old. He makes 4 million more than Dejounte and nearly 20 million more than Herb and is around 5 years older than both. Guys who also perform and are great professionals. We don’t need to overpay just to have a “professional.”

Djm is already a vet you need or want to keep.
The reality is - it's time to move on from zion more so than anyone else. I would love to keep Cj, but unless he's coming back at 20mil - that's not happening.
You wanna try to keep Ingram, fine but you gotta make the max deal team options after year 3. Bottom out this year and hope you land a top 3 pick.
Murray/alvarado
Jones/hawkins/boston
Ingram/green
Murphy/jre
Missi
That's not a bad starting 5, but you gotta upgrade the bench.

That's the sad thing, this is a very good team if you had All NBA and All Star caliber top 2 players...
