Things aren't looking good at Nissan. Dealers are selling cars at a loss, production has slowed, and more recently, the company cut thousands of jobs and sold a third of its stake in Mitsubishi. But it all may have been too little too late.
A new report suggests that the automaker's days are numbered. In an interview with the Financial Times, two unnamed Nissan executives said the company has "12 to 14 months to survive." "This is going to be tough. And in the end, we need Japan and the US to be generating cash," they said.

The company is reportedly looking for a new long-term investor, such as a bank or large insurance group, to replace some of Renault's equity holdings. The company also hasn't ruled out the possibility of longtime rival Honda taking a majority stake in the company, saying "all options" are on the table. Nissan recently signed a partnership with Honda (and Mitsubishi) for long-term EV development.

Renault is even considering selling a portion of its shares to Honda. The French automaker is reportedly looking to restructure its 25-year alliance with Nissan. An unnamed source within the company says that a larger Honda-Nissan partnership would "only be positive" for the French automaker.

Slow sales in the US and Japan prompted Nissan to cut more than 9,000 jobs earlier this month, while simultaneously slashing production by nearly 20 percent. Nissan's operating profit dropped 85 percent in the third quarter, with the company earning a net loss of ¥9.3 billion ($60.1 million at today's exchange rate). The company estimates it will save $3 billion by cutting jobs and production as it attempts to restructure.

Stelantis is in real bad shape.
Not long ago, there were about 270 days of ram truck inventory just sitting.

How much of their problems are due to wasted money on EV production or research?

The Dims said the economy was strong?

Yes. This shite should have happened 2 years ago but they have been hiding the truth for the election. Trump better get out ahead of this or they will blame it on him. We need to see how they have been manipulating the numbers

Would hate that. Nice, reliable cars.

That's what happens when you finance all them Altemas and Maximas.

If Nissan goes I assume Infinity goes.
In July Nissan had 76 days of inventory. Infinity had 66.
Toyota for comparison, was at 29.
Buick was at 80 so Nissan is just better than Buick.

Will this cause the Frontier Pro4X to be under $40K by the end of the summer?

Only a matter of time before the “Trump tariffs” are blamed.

EV is not a primary issue here for Nissan. The Leaf was a highly successful, highest selling electric in the world at one point. It's a great commuter car for high traffic ( I own one). However, I do expect that their flagship Ariya is suffering sales as it was released in 2023.
Their product line is very boring. Every car and SUV all look alike except the Frontier and Titan. Some argue it's because of the CVT transmissions they've been using that contribute to this.

My dream cars are either a 240 or 260z. Buddy of mine in high school had a 5 speed 260 that I loved.

The current Z has 350 days inventory.

The Juke looks different and seems to be a nice little vehicle, especially for commuters. I see Nissans all over the road; this news surprises me.
The price of vehicles has become outrageous, along with the price of everything else.

The Titan has been retired as of 2024.
They could never get the ugly out.

The titan was slotted to be on hiatus and then come back "re-tooled" per some industry experts. However, there is no return date and this latest development could mean it's dead for good. They needed it to compete with the other brands. If you remember back when the new Titan debuted as a 2016 model, it had a Cummins turbo diesel engine as an option. That engine had so many problems that Nissan ended the relationship and stopped offering that engine in 2019.

What’s the Toyota GR inventory right now?
They ducked up the z with no removable top option.
Z must have ttops at least. Leaks or not.
