Why do recruits keep fricking with LSU specifically to leverage their NIL offers?
Posted on 11/22/24 at 11:04 am to DVinBR
Because the top players in the NFL are LSU guys

Past precedent. Many recruits have used lsu in the past to leverage more from schools with more resources.
This is an every year thing

I don’t think that’s the case. I think we’re just committed to not playing the NIL game like successful programs. I’m not sure what anyone was thinking re: Gordon McKernan being our NIL ace but that dork is not keeping up with people who actually have “frick you” money

It’s hilariously ironic.
Our success on offense has made us the target for leverage.
Any offensive player right now can “commit” to us and it has to be taken seriously. Then they can leverage it to the big spenders.
Us being good has HURT recruiting

It is now an instant indicator:
“ Oh hell, he committed to LSU, that means that he is in the market for a big bag. Let’s offer around Thanksgiving and see what happens lol”
-the country.

Because we have a gullible staff and fan base.

LSU does not have the money some of these other schools do

quote:I appreciate Gordon for seemingly taking the reins for us in this era when no one else would. Gordon has OT money but not the money soome of these other schools boosters have. Again I appreciate what Gordon does but he seems to be trying to make all sports happy. Do you think Phil Knight is buying baseball players or women's basketball players or even gymnasts at Oregon? These giant boosters are going all in on football because football is king

Some of y’all need a perspective outside of just LSU. Are the recruits that choose us over other schools just using the other school to get a bigger bag from LSU? If that’s the case then we must be doing pretty well in the NIL game. Every school has to deal with this now. We’re not the only school that’s going to see commits flip to get more money. Hell, last minute flips were a thing way before NIL. We get some, we lose some.

It’s a big school with nowhere near the money of these other schools. You could use and abuse Kelly as a top recruit

Remember BK saying his intent was to focus as much as possible on In state guys or guys with LSU ties… this is why.

Hanny mentioned this earlier today and was logical. If you are looking to leverage a school to pay you more, why would you choose LSU? You would choose a school like Texas, A&M, or Oregon to use as the leverage school to squeeze as much money possible from the true desired school.

Agree, he needs to assrape Exxon for a couple billion before he can play with the Phil Knights.

I’m honestly on the verge of leaving this site after this. I can’t believe how fricking dumb this place has become. The narrative that LSU doesn’t have the money to compete is comical.

They are not just leveraging LSU
Oregon and Michigan just have the money to make kids an offer they can’t refuse.
We don’t.
So a kid probably likes LSu, wants to play at LSU, but when frick YOu money gets thrown at them, what are they gonna do?
Michigan wasn’t taking no for an answer

Can everyone stop ignoring the fact that this happens all the times to plenty of other schools. It just happens that this time it was a very very high profile recruit.

You think this is specific to LSU?
