Small sample size being 10 games or so, but guys like Hawkins & Boston stepped up. What do we do now?

Boston has played 10 games (28.4 MPG), shooting a solid 45.5/36.1/90.0 on 10.1/3.6/2.0 attempts. 12.3 PPG, 4.2 RPG, 3.9 APG, 1.4 TOV, and 1.7 STOCKS
- One of 3 players who have a positive BPM (other 2 being CJ and BI)
- Has shown promise as an occasional facilitator, low usage
- appears to not be a defensive liability
- Good size for a guard

Hawkins has played 8 games (30.3 MPG), shooting a meh 40.8/36.5/93.1 on 12.9/6.5/3.6 attempts. 16.3 PPG, 4.5 RPG, 1.4 APG, 1.6 TOV, and 0.5 STOCKS
- While showing improvement, he can put up volume shooting and maintain an average (not above average) shooting %
- still a work in progress ball handling
- Defensive liability still, but improved so that's fair
- also not a high usage player
- Good size for a guard

Alvarado has played 11 games (25.6 MPG), shoooting 39.6/40.0/82.4 on 9.2/5.5/1.5 attempts. 10.7 PPG, 2.2 RPG, 4.5APG, 1.3 TOV, and 1.8 STOCKS.
- His growth into a shooter has been wildly impressive and has improved over the years
- Solid facilitator
- defensively his size is his issue, but his ability to flip a possession here and there is solid

We know what we get with CJ. That's not including guys like Murray and Jones.

This is starting to become last year's version of Naji and Dyson --- too many guys, not enough minutes. Who deserves it? Is this where you consider moving on from CJ sooner if Boston and Hawk continue to show steady improvement? Even though this injury situation sucks, the opportunity to find guys has been a solid silver lining.

I think you move Jose finally. He has reached his peak potential and might as well sell while maximizing his worth. That clears the way for Boston to play along with CJ and Hawk on the perimeter.

Boston has earned quality playing time to see if he is a part of the core moving forward. His size allows him to play 1-3, so it doesn't have to necessarily affect Hawk's minutes.

Boston can take Green's minutes and spot in the rotation. If and when this team gets completely healthy, I think we have my preferred rotation as follows:

Murray, Herb, BI, Zion, TMIII

Jose, Hawk, CJ, Boston, Missi

Green, Theis

In other words, I don't think that I would normally want Green and Theis in the rotation. Theis was a healthy scratch last night, but the reason that Jemison is playing over him right now is that Jemison's inside strength is needed more with Zion out. When Zion returns, I think Theis will get some minutes back, because Theis is a better fit with Zion. But there could be games where we play small a lot and Missi is the only center who plays.

Don’t worry Willie will find a way to screw it up. It happens every year.

Boston and Hawkins loses minutes. It's as simple as that. Young guys get hosed as the roster is constructed.

Murray, CJ, Herb, Trey, BI, and Zion are all minimum of 30mpg. Then Jose, Green, and Missi gets fit in there.

The goal is to secure Boston to a lengthy deal and and get Hawkins and Boston into the core rotation next year by making space this off-season.

Im not sure they necessarily should get minutes over Hawkins and Boston. But I do believe Green will do this.

He's going to lean on his Vets to get back into the seeding race. That's always been his style especially now more than ever trying to get over .500.

I agree. But Green is no Naji and I love Jose but there are times when Boston and Hawkins are just better.

Green plays some 4 where expect where most of his minutes will probably come from.

When everyone is healthy you think Willie still tries to play small ball with Trey at 5 or has the development of Missi changed this?

We will play both depending on the matchup. Like last night where we closed with JRE instead of Missi.

Murray, CJ, Herb, Hawk, Boston

That’s our guard rotation. Unfortunately Jose is odd man out I believe when fully healthy.

Definitely better on offense. Jose a dog on D tho despite his size. He's a big plus offensively when he's hittin his 3s and has guys who he can facilitate to.

He struggled this year getting off to a rough start shooting, but he had that 7 3 game and felt like he was getting into rhythm. Typically he's not the focal point of the defense like he was having to be with everybody out.

Boston and Hawk are definitely what we need with the depleted roster because they can manufacture buckets, but with the whole team healthy Willie will get Jose run if nothing more than to pick up the energy for a stretch.

I've been thinking about this since Boston Jr. second game. He's a keeper but what do you do with the logjam at guard. Real simple, package 2 up and trade for a quality PF. My logic here is that Husky, who you've built your team around, is a gold standard 'Swiss Army Knife' but not a player that does traditional PF type things. Let's start out with a timeline from injury return.

Current (this or next game) Starters : Rotation
CJ, Boston, BI, TM3, Missi: Green, JRE, Jemmision/Theis, Reeves, Cain/Nowell
Hawk returns
CJ, Boston, BI, TM3, Missi: Hawkins, Green, JRE, Jemmision/Theis
Herb returns
CJ, Herb, BI, TM3, Missi: Hawkins, Boston, Green, JRE, Jemmision/Theis
DJM returns: (what should happen)
DJM, Herb, BI, TM3, Missi: CJ, Hawkins, Boston, Green, JRE, Jemmision/Theis
Jose Returns
DJM, Herb, BI, TM3, Missi: CJ, Hawkins, Boston, Jose, Green, JRE, Jemmison/Theis
Husky Returns
DJM, Herb, BI, Zion, Missi: TM3, CJ, Hawkins, Boston, Jose, Green, JRE, Jemmision/Theis

Obviously Pels can't get minutes for (5) guards: (Herb, CJ, Hawkins, Boston, and Jose), but you're backup 4 is still JRE. I believe you have to continue to develop Boston and Jose is a energy specialist that provides Pels more value than as a trade asset. So what to do with CJ, Hawkins, and Herb? Herb is All Pro so he is not going anywhere.

Right now Phili, Orlando, Brooklyn, Detroit and Portland all need scoring help and have good (PF/C) available. IJS

You can't really evaluate players based on this coaching staff. Players are popping off after leaving the Pels, it's not just a one time thing, players consistently play better for other systems than they do for the Pels. I am more interested in shaking up the admin than the players... but a new admin would do that.

Ingram can shoot. I would play him top of key to top of key. He’s too long to keep off the 3pt line. Don’t believe he’s a defensive guru, however can pull up or make forward passes by running the floor.

Wish the sharpooter the best. Griffin has a choice soon.

I love having Alvarado on the team as the 11th guy. He can play 6-12 minutes a game being an instigator and a pest. He also had some solid games as an emergency starter (he was horrible early in the year). But I wouldn't count on him in the regular 2-deep with everyone healthy or as a primary back-up. He's just not that guy..
