I think Trump really likes her (she was probably VP before the dog scandal) and trusts she will enact his policy and be a pretty face and speaker… but I feel like Tom Homan and Stephen Miller are going to be the two really enacting policy there.

Otherwise it’s kind of a bizarre pick

HS is a lot bigger than just border security. She'll have plenty of other items to work on.

You're right in that it softens the messaging when deporting 10M people

You, sir are a sage man, and I think you nailed this perfectly. She will provide the cover, funding, and manpower for Tom and Stephen to eat.......

We need a much smoother style explaining Tom Homan’s moves.

They aren't the same jobs at all. Homeland Security encompasses TSA which has nothing to do with border security. FEMA is also under DHS. As is the Nuclear Response Team. You can look on their Wikipedia page and see all the federal agencies that will be under Noem's jurisdiction. It's a helluva lot more than just border security and deportations.

You know who else is about to be in for a huge shakeup? The Secret Service. They are also under Homeland Security. Let's see what Noem does to deal with those asswipes.

Noem's job is a helluva lot bigger than just deporting illegals.

And just like that, President Trump opens the door of possibility for a special election, and John Thune to fulfill Kimberly’s hope returning to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, with a full-throated gubernatorial endorsement from the Great MAGA King. But I’ll get to that in a moment….

With the incompetence at the Secret Service, and the politicization of FEMA in the last couple of months, Noem might be just the person to go in and fire some people...starting with the DEI hires.

Hope she finds a way to bring some professionalism to the TSA and gets them to understand the work for the people. Consistency from airport to airport would be nice. Also, get rid of TSA

I like Tom's style. It's great.
Progressives and media won't like it. But who cares. They won't like anybody. The people that voted for Trump love it and that is what counts.

Agree.

Trump tells her that she's technically the boss but in reality she will give Homan a free hand.

I read speculation on that last night. If Trump pulls that off it’ll be pretty damn impressive.

I think with Homan and Miller on the border and deportations, Noem can focus on other areas in need of work like TSA, Secret Service and FEMA. These are complimentary selections.

I see a mess unless she knows her roll. Women, even "republican" women have issues taking a back seat.

My wife "no pics" who owns her own bidness needs to be reminded that she doesn't boss me.

She can leave the relationship at any time.

Noem's job will be the figure head while the FEMA director, Boarder Czar, Secret Service Director, etc. do the real work.

Someone needs to start working on Thune's wife. Tell her, "Do y'all want to return to your home state hated by your fellow South Dakotans if your husband spends 4 years obstructing the MAGA mandate? Or would you rather return to your home state where your grandkids are as heroes?"

I posted last week asking whatever happened to Kristi Noem, since she had ostensibly been laying low and out of the news. She’s clearly been angling in the background and talking to Trump.

I think she’s a strong leader from a dark red state who will be loyal and she’s not a Washington swamp rat, and that’s worth a lot. She’s been very vocal about border security in the past even though she’s not a border governor.
