Thoughts on the Ford Bronco

I’ll be due for a new vehicle around springtime, so I’m starting to do some preliminary research on what I want next. I’m kinda considering the Ford Bronco at the moment. I don’t know much about the new version, so I’m hoping one of my fellow OT residents can give some insight. I kinda like the Heritage version with manual transmission….

Like it the top is a removable.
The scout is coming back it looks OK.
My neighbors wife just got a G wagon it looks like shite IMO
I would have rather a Grand Wagoner decked out or escalade and spent the rest on a nice vacation to Greece or Italy

It's like a nicer Jeep without the death wobbles. Can you join the rubber ducky brigade?

To many doors. Lose the automatic.

Looks good, but don't they have a lot of issues? Whatever you do don't buy a Jeep unless you're going to trade it before the warranty is up.

I have 54,000 miles on my Badlands edition with the 4cyl with manual transmission.
Zero issues. I love driving it every day. 100% would buy it again knowing what I know now.
Although, the soft top is a bit noisy inside.

It's a low bar when you brag about a vehicle with only 50k on it having no issues. I wouldn't brag about "no issues" until it topped 6 digits.

Less than most. They had a batch of bad valves in the 2.7 engines that otherwise have a very solid reputation for reliability in the millions of F150s that have them. Most owners seem to love them, and they remain very popular and have good resale.
OP should note though that this is a vehicle designed ground-up for offroad, which comes with some inherent compromises. If that's what you want, then go for it, but be aware that it will not drive like a minivan or CUV.

I've always heard that Ford trucks have a poor reputation for quality?
I'm Toyota snob, so I don't have much first hand knowledge of Ford or Chevy's, but everything i read and hear is poor quality. My 2012 Tundra has 230+k on it and never an issue. I wouldn't buy one of the redesigned Tundras though.

What I can't fathom about Bronco's is what they are selling for at Barrett-Jackson Auctions. So many of them are fetching over $100K when they hit the blocks and it seems the older the model, the more they like them.
Of course the sellers have put tons of work and pretty much all new drivetrains and frame off restorations, but it's still insane what they are fetching.
Personally, I find them to be some fairly plain looking vehicles and their short wheel base and fairly high stance is not great for road holding stability.

I’m not bragging. I’m merely giving OP some details that give him an idea of what to expect. My Bronco is my daily driver, as he stated his would be. If I only had it for a few months and only driven it a couple thousand miles, my experience may be not as helpful because I would still be in the “new car” glow phase of ownership.
I swear, some of you guys are so smooth brained.

Hell, I expect 150k before I do anything but fluids, filters, tires and pads.

With the off-road tires on it was one of the worst rides on the road I've ever been in.
