Got a job offer there that I’m thinking about and would require a move from BR (run for the hills, I know). The hiring manager of course makes it out to seem like a great place.

I’ve been to Houston numerous times but never ventured out that way. What’s it like there? Schools, housing, crime, local politics, etc?

For you TX folks, educate me on the sky high property taxes I hear about. Does it balance out since there’s no state income tax?

Visited there. Expensive but looks to be a great place to live.

Daughter lives in a town just south of the woodlands. I’ve been there many times. Upscale neighborhoods, restaurants, golf c, restaurants. Beautiful area.

Schools are excellent.

Suburban sprawl, if you don’t have to drive into Houston for work it’s probably nice.

We call it The Bubble. If you like 98% White, upper middle class, low crime, good public schools and even a still-popular mall, it’s for you.

Really no comparison to Baton Rouge. It’s suburb you see out of a movie. Clean, laid back, don’t have to leave for anything if you don’t want. Very nice place to raise a family, but not much on the entertainment. You really have to go to Houston.

Would highly recommend

so many stores. OP- do you like pilates/pinterest/botox/margarita lunches?

Also woodlands>BR and it is not even close. I would move there before I moved back to BR and it has way too much traffic and plastic for me.

Pull the trigger, baw. Don’t look back. I hail from Sugar Land but have spent some time up that way. Great area to live, especially if you have kids.

You will need to buy some diddy sized lube when property taxes come due. But in all fairness, it’s safe, great schools, clean, with decent roads. You get what you’re paying for.

Beautiful part of greater Houston with the piney woods and nearby lakes, lots of shopping (brick & mortar stores) and restaurants; like all of the Houston area it's super hot for about five months of the year (six months this year).

The Woodlands is basically Mandeville without a lake seperating it from the city.. same distance, same environment .. whether that’s ur cup of tea is individual preference, i guess .

If I moved back to the Houston area it would be #1 on my list.

Used to have an office there. Loved it.
