Would Trump support the State of Jefferson?

Northern California and Southern Oregon are strongly republican but have no voice. They've been trying to break off to form the 51st state and even have a name for it, **The State of Jefferson**. They've got a flag, too. Recently their bid to break away has lost steam, but if like to see it happen.
When I hiked through there on the Pacific Crest Trail, I was pleasantly surprised to find their politics so different from the rest of the state. I met a lot of great people and have been hoping they'd succeed.

Greater Idaho. Add Eastern Washington to that and give Idaho more electoral votes.

They are hoping to succeed in their effort to secede?

You can't make new states out of parts of old states.

OP hopes they don’t secede from their efforts to succeed

West Virginia enters the chat.

I doubt that Congress would approve it. It would open the floodgates. Also, the California and Oregon legislatures would have to approve.

GOP wont do it because Democrats would demand statehood for DC too.

That's what I mean. If they allowed California to break up, then Texas would be next. Then New York, then others. It would be a mess.

Tell that to West Virginia.

Not sure I approve this. This is essentially just gerrymandering with electoral votes instead of congressional districts. At least that's how blue people will see it.
I totally understand why those rural areas would want to break away though.

Give Eastern California to Nevada and southeastern California to AZ, and accomplish the same for those states. A Nevada that extended to Bakersfield would be permanently Red.

THAT would be the only way I would hope anyone would allow PR and DC to become states...if there are two sure adds on the Republican side.
Of course, who would have ever guess that when Hawaii and Alaska were added, Hawaii was the Republican state and Alaska was the Democrat state.

Doesn’t matter really. Neither Oregon nor California would support it, which is required. And neither could Congress most likely.

Not exactly on topic, but DC outside of a very small federal, non residential sector around the Capitol/WH/mall, needs to be given back to Maryland.

They should try gerrymandering a state vote like the territories did early on or like the blacks do now
