I just wanted to share with you all positive news if that’s alright as a proud LSU alum!
I'm so proud of my son, who does have autism and is incredibly detail-oriented. He’s always had a passion for cataloging and organizing information, and after a lot of hard work and perseverance, he’s now an archivist for the National Park Service! His role focuses on preserving historical records, which is the perfect fit for his skills.
What makes it even more special is that he was hired under the Schedule A hiring authority, which allows individuals with disabilities to be hired more easily into federal positions. It’s been a long journey, but seeing him achieve his dream job is such an inspiring milestone! For any parents or individuals in similar situations, I hope this can give you hope that there’s a path forward in finding fulfilling careers, no matter the challenges.
I am so happy and proud of him - I am literally crying tears of joy that he is now a productive member of society! He is living proof of why it’s important to be a beacon of hope and light when it’s easy to engage in name calling or inflammatory trolling.

Oh there’s definitely some material there that’s not offensive to the OP or his son, but I’ll skip it, too.

You should be proud, and he is in that position because he has a wonderful father. Happy for your family. Good luck to your son and his future.

Can you share what his path to landing this job looked like? I’m just curious about how that works and what kind of qualifications he has or how he was able to alternatively demonstrate his skills.
This is really inspiring stuff! I’m so happy for you, your son, and your family!
