For many decades, we have had the most elite pre game experience in all of football. So many traditions lost in last ten years.

One incredibly unique and special moment we have had was pop its during the national anthem. When you would have a couple 1,000 people blasting them at the same time just adds to the mystic of Tiger Stafium. I never did them, but to those did, it was really awesome.

So as we bring back a live tiger on the field, would great to bring back this tradition too.

First timers are like…. What’s going on?
“Welcome to DEATH VALLEY baby”

Geaux Tigers, let’s get loud Saturday!

10 years? I haven’t thought about that in 25 years.

Agree - it needs to come back.

People would always pop them during “rockets’ red glare” instead of “bombs bursting in air”. It used to irrationally piss me off.

I don’t think this was unique to LSU at all.

It's been the past 10 years. Poppers were still prevelant up to about the last 8-10 years.

I've been to 5-6 SEC stadiums and I don't recall fans popping them that much, if any. I remember it being a pretty widespread thing in TS as a kid in the 80's and 90's, and slowly tapered off. I did think it was an LSU tradition.

What other schools did those as much?

How many did you go to before they went away in Tiger Stadium?

Fans of all sorts of sports teams used to do this. They’ve mostly been banned from stadiums.

Well I can say it isn’t completely dead if you listen closely you can still hear a few. At a game last year, an older man was handing them out to kids sitting around him.

When you were a 6 year old kid, that was one of the coolest things about coming to the stadium. Remember that from my times as a young attendee in the late 90s.

well, i haven't been to a true SEC road game since 2012ish. I didn't expect them at the bowl games and neutral sites I attended since 2012, and it wasn't a thing at those sites.

I just asked you to name a few.

Why would you downvote my post? frickin weird to be bothered enough to do that.

Hey bruh, move this same thread to the SEC board for me so I can get a question answered.

It used to be a big thing. Kind of went away after 9/11. A few people still do it.

I didn’t downvote you, weirdo.

I can’t tell you exactly what schools/teams used to do it; only that I know I’ve seen it at other non-LSU sporting events. I’ll admit it’s possible that it’s a Louisiana thing but that would kind of surprise me.

They used to sell them in the Union Bookstore on gamedays.

LSU should put boxes of them at each gate —- and hand them out to everyone

Pop-its were a thing back when we use to chant "ha ha ha ha ha ha ha....assholes, assholes" before the game when the band was on the field, and then sing "heyyyyyyyyy, hey baby, I want to knowwwww, if you'd be my bitch"

Literally every stadium with a decent crowd did this in the 90's and 2000's before upgrading to fireworks
