Anyone's neighborhood/subdivision use "Flock Safety" License Plate Reader at entrance?

Our HOA (yea i know) is considering one of these at our only entrance to help with any criminal issues that may arise.
Basically a video surveillance at entrance to identify vehicles after an event; apparently can also notify police if a "wanted" vehicle enters the subdivision.
There are various options and I am sure other similar systems out there.
It's an alternative to a gate system which wouldn't work well in our entrance and most oppose.

Great system. We are making them mandatory on every street within our neighborhood. Once the pilot is done we aim to put them in every house as well.

Does it work for Nissan Altimas with fake paper tags?
If not, not sure how this would work better than an actual gate.

Verkada is a much better choice.

Id question living in a place that needs that level of private security in order to feel safe.

If you have the settings configured properly that will auto trigger a request for a K9 unit with extra taser batteries.

My current hood doesn't use Flock but we've had it in prior neighborhoods.
It's a good system, it helps the police. In areas like Atlanta/Buckhead, where it's fairly common to have "sprees" of the same groups of people stealing cars and making hits on neighborhoods with increasing boldness over weeks/months, it's shown to be really valuable. They're often from areas 20+ miles away and they switch cares/plates, so time is of the essence.
Flock can get the details to police and interact with other Flock/police cameras to track and ping law enforcement quickly. Police departments will often come in and help you pick beneficial locations for cameras/readers - they love Flock.
The downside tends to be privacy concerns. What gets shared automatically with law enforcement, who can subpoena footage (cheating in a divorce case, etc.) are the type of things that get debated. There may be straightforward solutions to that stuff, I can just tell you from an HOA that has considered it for multiple years and never opted in, those are common concerns.

We're tied up in court over some uppity broads in the women's locker room on film with "junk in her trunk" of the illicit variety. I don't even wanna say what they were doing with it.
Women are sick.

In my hoa we don’t have to worry about security because we bribed all the realtors into telling everyone our neighborhood is a “sundown town”

We use it. It is a very effective system that has produced many arrests. Our system also helped find a missing person.

Our community has entrance and exit cameras at the gate to get license plates, camera's at the pool, etc.

Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety

This will lead to at least three divorces.

Most of this board is nuts. License plate readers didn’t do shite in my gated parking garage.
Buick, with plates stolen off another Buick, tailgated someone into our apartment garage. Everyone wearing masks. Took the $9,500 (each truck) taillights out of 3 F250s in less than 20 minutes. Never caught, even though the plates were captured on at least nine cameras.

Yes, my neighborhood has one. There is only one way in and one way out so we never have any problems.
Also, as a Gurka, I am a senior member of a security team at a sprawling compound.

I don’t know if we use a particular brand but we do have license plate readers at the entrances.

Sounds less like a plate reader problem and more like your local police services are shite.

I really don't see a need for it. Our 'hood is pretty quiet. At most we have had some petty theft from yards or from unlocked cars. I don't even recall porch pirates.
Between the nervous Nellies and paranoid Pollies - there is a certain amount of push for additional "security".
This is cheaper than a gate so that's an upside.
Appreciate the feedback...
