Oh just wait, they’ll call you two days before to announce you’re not a 6am appointment, you’re an 11am appointment, etc.

Mine was $700 on high deductible plan originally, once I hit my deductible a few months later I paid $350 out of pocket. Not bad. (Texas, BCBS/Anthem.)

Depends on your insurance and whether they seek it medically necessary. Mine did not and it cost me about $2500 out of pocket

Depends on where you have it done.
Two big parts of the bill - facility fee (>95% of bill) and dr fee.
In hospital outpatient endoscopy center over 10k (at least where I live)
In ambulatory surgery center (private gastro group) maybe 2k, but could be less
This is assuming you pay cash with no insurance.

It was about $7K gross. Between the deductible and my percentage it took most of my HSA for that year.

High deductible plan, mine was about 2k total. What I owed that day plus what I got billed for in the mail.

Definitely more than a lower endoscopy.

I thought with an upper endoscopy you had to swallow a clear capsule with a camera inside it that takes pictures of the small intestine, and was then passed out through the lower bowel.

OP claims that he has a $3.50 coupon. Woo Hoo!!

I had one done pre-Obama Care when my insurance covered more things, 90% after a deductible like around 100 bucks if not covered under the co-pay (which went beyond office visits but not this but also not 100%), and actually had less expensive premiums than currently paying.

Now I may also need another, and I am not looking forward to the estimate.

what surprised me was the "facility fee" of a lot of money they charged that I wasn't expecting on top of the procedure.
