The only risk is holding dollars which have devalued over 97% over the last 100 years.

Minimal to no risk - the only option there would be is a high yield savings or CD

Kinda what I figured, but I thought someone in or very involved with the industry may know of something that I wasn’t aware of.

Sometimes. Another benefit of TBills is no state income tax on the interest (make sure to note this to tax prepare so they don’t frick it up).

There will always be risk.

There is no free lunch.

If you need the money in a year, a CD seems reasonable.

I use JEPI and JEPQ as a money market for funds I wanr to keep in reserve.

It is much more risky than CD or money market.

If money has a specific purpose and time horizon a cd should be fine for what you need.

Easiest would just be a CD at whatever bank you already deal with. 1% only makes a $200 difference over a year on 20k. No risk.

VMFXX - lower expense ratio - higher yield. That Schwab Money Market charges an extremely high fee of 0.34%.
