Moscona made a good point on this morning's podcast as it relates to Nuss. He had a rough 2nd half but where would they be without his arm up until this point?
Even more concerning was Greg Penn's comments that they weren't ready and didn't gameplan for A&M's QB2 who has played in most of their games this year. #coaching

Which is why the game is on Kelly. It was 100% Coaching. Sure Nuss had a miserable second half but if the team could run the ball they likely elect to run it there or the defense would react harder to the play action in that situation.
But since they cannot open holes that situation led directly to the first interception. Inserting a second QB into the game is always challenging for the defense. Especially when they are polar opposites.

And we have played some average to below average teams.
I think a lot of fans that don’t have the purple and gold glasses on knew we were in trouble after the Nicholls and UCLA game.

That isn't what he said. He said for Arkansas they game planned for the running QB all week. He said they weren't ready for the backup QB but it was pretty clear he meant that the players weren't ready in the moment rather than unprepared. I say that because he later said (paraphrasing, obviously) the gameplan was good but they simply didn't execute, and that adjustments were properly made but players missed making plays they should have.

He had not played in any games (or at least had no stats) other than a Mcn=Neese blowout and 1 other snap for -4 yards in any game that the QB1 was available to start in. Say he should have been expected to come in is disingenuous at best.

He appeared in 5 games and STARTED against Florida, Bowling Green and Arkansas. You ABSOLUTLEY plan for this guy, knowing Weigman has been playing well below expectations since coming back from injury.

Which loss specifically in his 3 years here wasn't on Kelly? And why wasn't it his fault?
This analysis never made any sense to me. Every loss is the HCs fault.

I do not like Kelly at all. He is not the answer for LSU. I see indications of this situation spiraling out of control. When I look at him at LSU it just does not fit. We need a proven coach out of the SEC. It is the same BS in the 3rd year with a 4th consecutive opener loss @ Clemson in 2025 looking at him right between his eyes and Clemson will be even better next year while we will be in a re-build year. LSU will finish 9-3 or even 8-4. CBK will lose grip here very shortly sooner than later.

So when Weigman was not injured, he appeared in 2 games. One either in mop-up duty or possibly Weigman was already hurt (I don't follow aTm to know that detail) then 3 games when Weigman was hurt, then 1 SEC game for 1 play of -4 yards. How much time (of your total 20 hours allowed for scheduled team activities) are you going to divert from the expected starter to prepare for this guy?

But but but, it's all scheme they say. They are WRONG, it's a bunch of big Tarzans playing like Janes.

Reed wasn't running some exotic scheme. He was running zone read. LSU has faced zone read nearly every game this season. We'd run it on offense too if Nussmeier would keep on occasion.
LSU players just failed to execute. Our safeties and LBs were not quick enough, and when they did get hands on him, they didn't tackle.

Without Nuss this team is probably 3-5 or 4-4.

This is an easy comment. Sure every loss is on the Head Coach because he is the top guy but there is a difference between a team that couldn't execute to win the game and a team that seemed unprepared which.
Kelly's first loss as a Head Coach was more of a failure to execute. He takes the blame because hes the head coach but that game was more about poor execution. The team got better with executing as the season went on and had a very successful season despite that loss.
The loss against Ole Miss last year was to me a missed read by Daniels away from a victory despite the poor defensive performance that was standard all season. If Daniels makes the proper read on second down and flicks it out to Nabers, he walks in for a touchdown and we extend the lead by two scores and win the game.
Not every loss is the same and yes every Coach should take responsiblity for the loss but there is a clear cut difference between a loss that is actually the fault of the Coach and the players just not executing the gameplan or play calls.
This loss is more about Coaching to prepare your team than just execution. The sloppy field goal unit, being 8 games into the season and still not being able to run the ball, continuous bad coaching decisions and still terrible in short yardage situations, etc.

Absence of a running game negatively affects all other aspects. Puts all pressure on the passing game to succeed, and it’s not good enough to carry this team week after week. High risk, high reward offense. Short drives. Shorter defensive rest between drives. Bad field position.
Our non existent run game is a HUGE part of the problem.

4.3 yards per rush down from 6.2 last season (the difference is/was Jayden Daniels)
I would think that 2023 was also around 4.3 if you removed Daniels' carries. The returning running backs are basically the same and the run blocking is worse. Durham's use in the last few games has helped a little and his speed has made up for some of the bad blocking.

Weigman's stats since coming back from Injury (2 games):
33/47 (70.2%) 493 yds ; 1 TD ; 2 int
2 highest passing yardage days of the season for A&M.
a 34 point victory over a top 10 (at the time) team
both games they put up more points than in any game started Reed.
what the frick were his expectations if that's "well below expectations"?

Kelly often talks about balance and complementary football but it consistently evades his teams. They often run plays that are right at the strength of an opposing teams defense. I’m beginning to believe he is as stubborn a Coach as someone else we all know .

LSU is now rebuild U
How long does it take for a supposedly championship caliber football program to rebuild?
It doesn’t because true championship caliber programs just reload. Not rebuild.

This is false. Reed played in 4 games before Saturday and he only had one snap vs Mizzou. So he only had significant playing time in 3 games when Weigman was out.
He’s barely played the last month and has not played a non-garbage time snap when Weigman was healthy before Saturday night. They have NEVER rotated QBs.
Some of you need to learn how to use Google. It’s not that fricking hard.
