I called a hotel about a booking and my call last an hour and it goes like this

>Automated voice telling me to select my service request
>Voice can’t process my response
>Transferred to dial tone to select department to talk to
>placed on hold for 15 minutes
>Operator no where near the property to fix the issue
>Ask to talk directly to the front desk and they say they can’t transfer me to a direct call to them

If you think it’s bad now, wait until they push for AI replacements for the whole process.

just experienced this after having major issues with ceasars in NOLA. It's a whole strategy...if you transfer calls to a call center in Bangledesh and don't authorize them to fix anything, then you never have to fix anything.

Doctors are doing the same thing. Anything to save money and not hire enough help.

TONS of money being poured into this right now.

Its best to google the exact hotel and get the local number OP, you can usually do this. Don't just go to their main website as that is likely just a generic operator like what you ran into.

Doesn't matter. Before online bookings ever began, hotels took calls for all the bookings, handling it themselves, because the desk staffs worked hard.

Now they're a shite ton of lazy asses on the desk staffs who hit some button and transfer every call to God Knows Where in Sri Lanka or India.

ETA: as an aside, in any business, don't ever outsource your tech support to Oracle

Don't. Ever. Do. It.

I can understand for some things, but do you really want to talk to someone to book a hotel when you can do it in 15 seconds on your phone?

Which is kinda funny because this board loves them some people being replaced by some shitty software that barely functions.

Phone customer service will become a thing of the past after a few years. That’s not the only place doing that.

It’s just starting with the big ones for now and either you will message them like text and they will answer you like that or you can email them.

Other than that, you are not gonna speak to anyone

Have you tried calling the local branch for your bank lately?

Had to call about setting up a checking account for my son..... called the advertised number and the first person to answer was in India.

On the flip side, have you actually tried to hire "help" lately?

If no, I think you might be shocked...
