Coppola's dystopian sci-fi epic "Megalopolis" hits theaters today

Reviews are extremely mixed, but almost everyone agrees that the film is absolutely batshit insane, and that's either a great thing or a terrible thing, depending on your taste and/or mindset for the film.
quote:
“Megalopolis” stars Adam Driver as Cesar Catilina, Giancarlo Esposito as Mayor Cicero, and Nathalie Emmanuel as Julia Cicero.
It also features Aubrey Plaza as Wow Platinum, and features Shia LaBeouf as Clodio Pulcher and Laurence Fishburne as Fundi Romaine.
This Roman Epic is set in an imagined Modern Dystopian America, where Cesar Catilina, a brilliant artist in favor of a utopian future, has conflict with the greedy Mayor Franklyn Cicero.
Julia Cicero is between them, with her loyalty divided, between her father, and her beloved.
Viewer discretion is strongly advised for “Megalopolis”, as it’s rated R for sexual content, nudity, drug use, language and some violence

I'm happy for the guy. This was Coppola's dream project and he was able to get it filmed and released. Not too many directors get that opportunity.

What is the last good film Coppola made?

So it’s a modern imagination of the Cataline conspiracy?

Probably The Rainmaker
Had high hopes for this but most critics saying it’s a jumbled mess. Will probably still see it because I love Shia

I've seen one commercial for it and was stunned it was coming out this week. Seems like a friends and family box office on deck.

His last three films on IMDB that are rated 7.0 and above are The Rainmaker (1997), Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992), and The Godfather Part III (1990).

I saw it tonight. I both loved it and do not understand a lot of it. I don’t think the actors understood it either, but they all gave great performances. Shia was easily my favorite character.
PSA: If you have a thing for Aubrey Plaza, a couple of her scenes might be worth the price of admission alone. You’re welcome.
Aubrey aside, I recommend giving it a shot if you are even remotely interested in it. Don’t read more reviews or watch more trailers. Go in as blind as you are now. There is a good chance you will find parts of it frustratingly unexplained and many will outright hate it, but I don’t think you will be bored.
I’ll save the rest of my thoughts for a spoiler thread if someone else watches it.

Dracula is a very good movie and maybe the best Dracula movie ever made.

Friend,
It was so awful that it nearly joined Trolls and the Wolverine Deadpoll comic book movie as the third movie in the last year I left before credits rolled. I would not sit for another showing even if you paid me $5000 that is how bad it was. The second star out of ten I gave it was merely out of respect for Coppola’s past. Would Copolla pass a neurological exam today?

Well, the fact that you paid for a ticket to see Trolls immediately discounts your ability to reason; thus, rendering your opinion moot.

Friend,
I watch every movie that comes to the theater. So far this year I am at 90 films, such is my duty as a critic and AMC A List member. Megalopolis is among the worst five films this year.

Remind me to never listen to your film advice. Ever.

I can't figure out what is about.
Looked like new York if Rome never fell with some odd cartoon liking statues walking around?
I dint know it's horror movie month I'm more excited for Terrifier 3 then this.

Even more of a red flag honestly. If you’re doing that as an adult and it’s not for a business, you’re crazy. Deadpool/Wolverine is another film I disagree with you on. Look, maybe you should start a YouTube channel so this can actually be worth your time, but posting your insanity here is simply not it.
