Maybe I just don't have enough faith in Missi, but the Pels have added the coach from the Cavs that focused on Jarrett Allen, and now Monroe. It just seems like a lot of coaching for a group of backup bigs. Although I guess if the goal is to squeeze as much as you can out of backups...

quote:Yeah, but we have Karlo, Jemison and Missi who are all pretty young and raw. Monroe is more of an intern type it seems, learning the coaching game.

Not sure how to feel... I wouldn't necessarily say Monroe could coach up my bigs.. He wasn't the greatest maestro when it comes to footwork... In fact, it was methodical and plodding. Old school back to the basket repotire...
He must be for Missi bc Matkovic, Jamison, Zion are all faceup players...
Well gives me something to pay attention to as the year progresses to see if his tutelage produces real game results.

This is why they hired Monroe:
Turn around baby hook over the shoulder, up and under, counter spin, and defending the post without fouling....
I think it's an excellent hire. Missi has already shown some counter spin moves but he needs to learn to play "wide" with his shoulders.
Of course they are investing heavily in developing Missi. Kid is 20...6'-11" and has nearly a 40" vert. That's pretty f'n rare.

They just needed a big body to give Missi developmental time especially when they're on the road. He's going to be spending a lot of time with Monroe. Although Monroe's defense isn't going to help.

Greg Monroe was the Myles Turner of his day. Always rumored to goto the Pels as the perfect C to our franchise PF but never happened!!
Glad he finally made it home!!

Local kid comes home. I remember hating on this dude when he went to Georgetown over LSU. I'm over it.
Welcome home.

Seems odd to have 2 coaches for bigs, so maybe Darnell Lazare's role is shifting with this hire.

Now that I think about, we're trying to prepare two NBA rookie bigs for legit minutes. We may need to hire another coach for bigs.

Made it all the way down to like the 5th row for the state championship game his senior year at Helen Cox. Some guy went in for a lay up and he blocked it. Came right at me, and it felt like catching a baseball line drive. CSB I know.
Think this is a good hire for us. Local guy who had a solid career.
