Taking the family for a quick little getaway over Thanksgiving. This will be our first time in the area. Any recommendations from people who have been? What are some of the better activities at that time of year? Restaurants to visit etc.

Have you been there? It's pretty close to me and I've been a couple of times and it's pretty dull. Arkansas is prettier and has more outdoor activities. At Thanksgiving time it will likely be too cold for any water activities so you are going to be hiking and the hiking in BB is mediocre. I think BB hired a Advertising firm a few years ago and started hyping it.

It's ok. Not great, not terrible. I live fairly close to there and haven't been in probably 4 years.

If you want to hang out in a cabin hot tub, make a fire and hang out then it's cool and beautiful scenery. You can go on a few hikes and do some trout fishing.

This. Maybe in a few years it will develop as another tourist trap

I feel north central Ark has more to offer. That much in Broken Butt.

I Was just thinking about booking another long trip there for the fall.

We went and stayed in an Airbnb last fall. Make sure you try and get a place near N Lukfat Trail Rd. There is a very nice little strip mall with several different types of restaurants, a brewery, and winery.

Not a whole lot to do there, but that's why we went

Wife and I went last December, as mentioned there's really not a ton to do there but that's part of the reason why went, was pretty great to hang out at the cabin drinking coffee in the morning by the fireplace on the patio watching the deer in the woods or having drinks in the hottub. Did a few hikes, rode some 4X4 trails in our 4Runner, pizza at Grateful Head was great, hung out at a couple of the breweries, etc.

ETA: Book a place with the hot tub/outdoor stuff under a cover, that way if it rains you'll still be able to enjoy it.

Bring or rent a SXS or ATV. More than enough trails to ride for days on end. Pack a cooler and enjoy the weather.

Agreed, not to rain on a parade, but went once and won't go again. It reminded me a lot of getting a cabin in the mountains, except there were no mountains

We always went to the Shady Lake/Albert Pike area in West Central Arkansas.

All we did is hike, play along the river and chilled at cabin making fires and cooking. Ate at the pizza joint one night. Nothing else to do other than outdoor stuff and chill which is what we wanted

We went for four days and that was probably too long. It's ok.

Make the drive to Talahina and eat at Pam's Hateful Hussy Cafe. YW!

Make the drive to Mena on the Talahina Scenic Byway.

Bascially BB has a casino and over priced cabin communities so IMO you never get a true mountain escape.

It reminds me of a small scale Gatlinburg with Bigfoot plastered everywhere.
