I’m happy to see that St. Aloysius has kept its standards of excellence. My kids, now in their 30’s, started at the day care center there and attended thru 8th grade. John Bennett was Principal at that time and I attribute much of the continued success to the standards he set.

I went there during his time. Great guy. My kids go to Mayfair now and its a great little school.

Happy to see Mayfair get some accolades. It's going to be one of our top choices once the kiddo is ready for school since we're in the priority area.
Otherwise, it's that private school life and tuition for us.

Mayfair is an underated good public school here in BR. Problem is most of the exemplary kids are goign to go to BR High, which is also a good public high school, but lacks in the extra curricular activites. I hear they have a soccer program now, as well as wrestling and cross country, but they need to invest in other programs. Sports isn't everythign in this world, but playing on a team in high school I think is an important life lesson for many. Kids need after school programs, whether that's baseball, football, weightlifting, debate team, spanish club, robotics club, etc.
Catholic high has 40 clubs compared to 20 for BR High, not to mention the 13 sports teams compared to 7, and BR High has a higher enrollment than Catholic.

They've had those programs forever. The only sports they don't have are the three major ones (Football, Baseball/softball/, and Basketball).

Catholic High isn't co-ed like BRHS so you have to half the numbers when you compare enrollment numbers.

Mayfair has been a good school for years now. Ever since it became a Magnet lab school its been performing as one of the top schools in EBR.

I would say b/c it's not co-ed, they should have half of what BRHS has, not the other way around like it is.
What does being a girl or a boy have to do with afterschool clubs? They have more students at BRHS, but half the afterschool clubs as Catholic. BRHS also has more availalbe sports teams to them, yet only again have half of Catholics teams.

How about Tennis, Power Lifting, Golf, Bowling, Fishing, Lacrosse, Cheer/Dance?

Schools can only apply for recognition every 5 years. Most the top tier schools cycle through the list.

Caroline Dormon was started by wealthy white folks in woodworth who didn’t want to go to school with others.

Exemplary achievement gap-closing schools are schools that excel in narrowing achievement gaps between different student groups and the overall student body. Schools that fit into both or either of those categories are then awarded the honor of being named a Blue Ribbon School.
Are they closing said gap by bringing the bottom up, or dropping the top down?

FWIW they did add volleyball, swimming and gymnastics. It would be interesting to see the numbers of participants in the clubs at BRHS VS CHS. CHS may have more clubs but how many are students engaging with each in large numbers? My daughter goes to Mayfair and they dont offer as many clubs or sports as say St Jude but she is involved in 5 of them and does sports and girl scouts outside of school. Anyway I agree more options for afterschool activates the better.

They also have an amazing principal. He is highly competent and ADHD, so he is always buzzing around doing actual work. He was my AP for a few years and did more work than all of the other admins combined.
