With Pantera and Suicidal Tendencies has me thinking about it. Haven't seen either of them and haven't seen Metallica since 1990.

I’m hoping Pantera adds a New Orleans show around that Houston show. Make it happen Phil.

Haven't seen them since Summer Sanitarium in 2004. Will likely check them out on this tour. Although, I despise the stage setup they have been using.

I've seen Metallica for the last time now - while I still love their show, they play in the worst possible venues for appreciating real music

Voodoo fest 2012. The day they played their final NOLA show ever. Hell, Pantera practices on the Northshore and we can't even get them to play here. Says a lot about NOLA bookings.

What is up with that? I saw the Black Dahlia Murder there like 16 years ago in some industrial area.

Saw Metallica in the arena in 04, had a great time. They closed with Sad But True I think.

THANK YOU!! I been feeling like I’m the only one who is really bothered by it.

There’s no better way to see a concert than the standard setup with the stage at the end of the floor or field or whatever.

I saw them with the diamond stage in 92 and hated it. Saw them again in 2004 with the stage in the middle of the arena in Jacksonville and hated it.

There were times in both shows where, even though I was down front in front of the stage, I could hear the music, but could not see any of the band members when they were all on the other side of the stage. It was this way, especially in 2004 with the stage in the middle of the floor. Garbage!

Furthermore, especially in 2004, it seemed to me that the people on the sides of the arena in the first 10 or so rows had the absolute best seats in the house. This is in spite of those of us on the floor paying more for our tickets.

All that said, my son is already texting me and we may go to either Atlanta or Tampa. I do need to see them sometime this decade so I can notch my fifth straight decade seeing them.

I've seen Metallica twice and both times was in the round. I was on the floor right up against the fence both times so it was pretty cool.

At this point in their career, I don’t think we’ll ever see Metallica in an arena with a traditional stage setup ever again.

It’s stadium shows in the round from here on out.

I shall like to attend this. Especially the Pantera date. Atlanta roadtrip, maybe.

New Orleans is a mother fricking shite hole. They get what they deserve.

Either way, I'll go see them, and Pantera and Suicidal Tendencies, in Houston.

Hard disagree there. In the round is so much better and gives you much more room to breathe and enjoy the show.

That said, this stage is too big IMO, but still better than the typical end of the football field setup where you're stuck and can't move.

Even during the times when you could hear the music, but could not see any of the band members? If you were up against the fence, I know for a fact this happened. It’s exactly what happened to me.
