They’re born one way and it doesn’t seem to fit them.

They struggle against not fitting as one gender for decades, usually completely alienated and resentful through their formative years and they’re often not on the hot/popular side of the equation to begin with so they have all the problems that come with growing up unattractive.

They finally tell themselves they’d be happy if they just switched so they literally have major surgery to “fix” the cause of their alienation.

This is done and then they still don’t feel right. They don’t fit with straight people. They aren’t exactly gay. They have plumbing that doesn’t quite work. They’re often intensely depressed and angry.

Who can they blame at that point? Themselves? No, they can’t be the problem.

So they direct their rage at the mainstream culture that they feel they don’t fit into. The entire sadness of their life gets directed at the people who didn’t do anything to them but are to blame simply for being “normal” and worst of all happy.

It’s not all trans people. But that rage at not fitting in has to be addressed via their honest acceptance of their situation and therapy directed at them making peace with the world or it’s going to find an outlet in ways that are often really unhealthy.
