Is the Cold Really Worse Than the Heat?

I have a hard time believing living in a cold environment is worse than living in the heat.I know there are downsides to both, but me personally, I would rather live where it’s cold. Maybe it’s because I’ve lived in Louisiana my whole life, but put me in the coldest climate and I feel like I would adjust. I’m just tired of living in Satan’s armpit.
Those of you who do live where it truly gets cold, what do you say? Is a cold and snowy climate truly worse than the hot climate?

The extremes of both suck.
I prefer cold.

I’ve constantly told my family I’d rather live up north. My dad and his side of the family is from Ohio and they say I’d move back after 1 summer of shoveling snow. I don’t believe them.

For me it’s not just the cold it’s the bone dry air that can wreck the sinuses.

I prefer the cold, but I'd never live somewheres that you gotta shovel snow. No thank you.

At least my hands and feet don't go numb in the heat

Depends on which one you were raised in, I think.

We moved to Raleigh, NC about 4 years ago. You get the 4 seasons & it’s only real humid for 2 months out of the year. There are a lot of Northern transplants that were sick of the cold weather.

The south is only "miserable" for about 2 months a year. By "miserable" I am talking about where no part of the day, early morning or evening included, is comfortable to be outside.
The hot in May and June is tolerable and mostly fun due to the start of summer.
Outside of that, it barely gets cold, and weather is pretty good overall all the rest of the time. Contrast to the north when 6-9 months of the year is miserably cold and you don't want to be outside if you aren't skiiing.
Give me the South any day.

Grew up in WI, lived in New Orleans for awhile, and now live in a hotter part of CA and here is my pecking order:
Dry heat
Humid Heat
Cold weather
I love Wisconsin, but I'm glad I don't have to go outside when it's so cold it hurts your face or go a month without seeing the sun in the winter.

People are going to bitch about the current climate regardless of the circumstances

-25 is pretty miserable. I'm not sure I'd be down with that type of climate either. Give me 25 degrees over 97 and humid all day though.

For me, it's as much the lack of daylight that comes with the cold as it is the temperature. I hate winters, not so much because of the temperature, but because it's dark at 5:00 and I can't do shite outside after work.
I don't love the extreme heat, but I tolerate it because it comes with daylight until well after 8:00.

Hot tubs aren't bad even in the summer. Ice baths are always bad.
Saunas are everywhere, no one goes sit in an igloo.

It's not so much the cold. It's the grey skies for weeks/months at a time, the melting of the snow makes your yard a soggy mess, your car is always dirty and you have to clear driveways/sidewalks.
Jan thru April (snow on easter anyone) in NE Ohio are as miserable as June to September in S LA.
