It's time to start treating these "fun" openers like business trips.

We are obviously distracted when we schedule these "exciting openers" in neutral spots. The coaches are distracted. The players are distracted. Can you blame them? Just as disappointing, the fans are distracted.
It's time to start treating openers like business trips, and I mean that for the fans too. We travel to these games and take pride in drinking and partying in fancy cities when we need to be focused on the reason we are there.
A friend in the office showed me a video of some trumpeters playing "neck" in a casino (which he thought was funny), and I had to turn it off because I knew that if our fans were distracted, our players must be too. Let's show up, get a good night's sleep, and cheer our tigers on.

I don’t get paid $11m a year to treat these games like business trips.
You probably didn’t complain when the alumni band had a damn parade through the quarter and warehouse district before the Clemson game.

The fact that fans were there partying and drinking has ZERO decision on the outcome of that game

It’s like when fans say don’t look ahead, let’s get past Nichols first. The fact that a dan looks forward to the ole miss game again has zero fricking outcome of the Nichols game. We don’t play the games baw, that’s why we are fans

Yeah the fans should have been studying game film and the playbooks instead of having a good time. That’s probably why we lost

How were they distracted? The team arrived in Las Vegas less than 24 hours before kickoff. I would bet that they didn't leave the hotel the entire time they were there.

I tell these guys this all the time but it falls on deaf ears. Lack of discipline from the fans bleeds over to the team. That’s why I keep it sober on game days.

Can we just open every season in Death Valley? That is all, thx.

The big flaw in your post is the fact that we (fans) are paying to be there and enjoy our trip. Coaches and now players are being paid to perform.
Act accordingly.

What are you talking about? The team arrived in LV Saturday afternoon, 24 hours from game time.

Are you serious, Clark?
Posted on 9/3/24 at 5:32 pm to DisneyDad1984
The team didn’t even arrive in vegas until late Saturday afternoon.

Did you even listen to the players the week leading up to the game?
That's EXACTLY what they said this game was..."We're not going there for fun, this is a business trip".
We have the greatest retarded fans, don't we folks?!

Honestly I feel you, we have a reputation as being the “party’ers”, but makes us look like a bunch of arse clowns as a fan base when we show up drinking all week and being cocky then losing to a bunch of libs from Cali. As the players stand point I think your post shouldn’t be directed to them. They had the business trip approach but failed to take care of business. I will get criticized for this next comment but I wanted Les miles gone more than anybody but he seemed to always have the team ready! Horrible game management and horrible play calling but they were always prepared and ready!

L. O. L. by that logic we should ban tailgating and make campus an "alcohol free zone", hate to distract our athletes and coaches with fun and enjoyment

I was told they were going for a fist fight and not for Caesar’s Palace.

This attitude is why we’ll never be elite.

Funny how the other teams are distracted too, and still beating us every time.
I’ll never buy a ticket to an opening game again. Would rather go to a game that’s not a guaranteed loss. We have Clemson the next 2 years, so that’s going to be 7 opening losses in a row.
