Chevy 1500 or Ram 1500?

Been a Chevy guy my whole life, but I have been thinking about Ram for my next truck. Will be looking at LT and Big Horn models. Looking for any input.

I have had both and I guess it boils down to what you are personally looking for. The Ram is a much nicer and technologically advanced at the higher trim levels but I can't offer it as being better for the guy that buys the base model Silverado and drives it for 10 years. Which is a financially wise thing to do.

Ford guy here.
Bought a Ram last time, and can't say I hate it.
It's been a good truck.
The last Chevy I owned was a 1992, and I still haven't found a truck that rides as smooth as that one did.
All these newer trucks have much harder suspensions IMO.

im a current GMC at4 owner with the 3.0 duramax, and its a great truck. this is my 3rd gm truck coming from ford.
that being said my good buddy has a 2024 ram laramie with the hemi and its a fine arse truck. they do not make the hemi anymore so that may be an issue for you as they switched to the twin turbo engine.
the inside is way nicer than my gmc but id rather my gmc overall.
go test drive both and see which one you like. if staying with gm, id go with the 3.0 duramax, its an awesome engine and i get 25 mpg sometimes 30. Towing my boat i get 12 which is good for a half ton.

I have a Rebel. I absolutely love the truck. It’s a beast. They are offering pretty significant discounts for the 24’s right now.

Have had both in the last 5 years. I've actually had a 19 Laramie, 20 Rebel, 21 Laramie, 21 Trail Boss and now driving a 22 Big Horn. All V8's. Love both.
Chevy actually felt like it handled a load better, better mpg. Felt really solidly built like when shutting the doors etc. The 10 speed was so smooth. The ved seems bigger and has 3 tie down points at each corner vs 1 for the Ram.
Ram has a much smoother ride (imo) and the seats are more comfortable. I have a Built to Serve Big Horn, which has LED lighting, skid plates, rear locker, hill descent, console safe, etc. I've had 7 Rams over the years, never had problems with any of them.
That being said, frick Stellantis! Most Ram service departments suck arse. Even though I've only had a minor thing or two, they made it a miserable experience. The only Chevy service experience I've had was really good, but that may have just been that one dealer IDK.

Anyone have experience with the 3.6L V6 the Ram offers? Occasional boat towing but that is about it.

I’ve had multiple trucks of each brand and never tried a Ram. Bought the new Tundra when it came out and traded it for a 2023 Ram Laramie. Got 40k on it and it’s been my favorite of all of them. Last of the hemi engine but I’ll stick with the Ram for the next one. Really don’t think I could live without the RamBox on the bed now that I have it.

Drove Chevy for 20 years personal truck. Worked the last 12 years as well out of Chevy company trucks. We had a ‘19 and ‘20 and the most uncomfortable seats I ever sat in.
Went with a Ram in 2019, like it more than any truck I have ever had. Mine is the 3.0 diesel .
I don’t think you could go wrong just get what you like.

That. Is the only thing I hate about my 2017 Silverado. It rides rough.

I have had them all minus a F150. Had a 19 Ram limited and it was an awesome truck. Needed more towing capacity and got a Ram 2500 6.4 hemi. Beast of a truck. My last chevy was a 14 5.3 and that engine was not that strong IMO.

I had 2 Chevy LTZ's before switching over to RAM in 2020. There is NO comparison in ride quality, as the RAM blows the Chevy out of the water in ride and comfort. I am still driving my 2020 Rebel, and the ride quality is as good as the day I bought it. I can't speak of the new Hurricane engines, and have debated trying one, but just can't pull the trigger due to my truck being paid for with low mileage.

I have two Rams. Bighorn is a work truck and a Rebel for personal. Both drive and ride amazingly with no problems. I did test trail a Chevy trail boss. Nice truck just didn’t have the ride the Ram had.

Since 2017, I have had 2 of each. I liked all of them. I am now on my second Ram 5th gen. When this all started, Ram was simply ahead of all others on tech and interior. From what I have seen, GM has caught up and maybe passed them. I say this because the UConnect 12" screen is somewhat of a lie. You rarely use all 12"(hehe) and the length runs up and down instead of side to side.
OTOH, I have read where GM is going to go away from Android Auto and Carplay. That is an absolute deal breaker for me.

Can you still get the V8 in the 2024s?

What’s the mpg like ? I have a 23 gmc with a 6.2 getting a motor replaced right now. 31 k miles. Wouldn’t mind trying a rebel.

Ram all the way. I have a Silverado high country and it isn’t a well thought out truck.
