Full of silver...although I don't know how much I would guess at least 300 oz.....

When he and his wife pass that down to his only child [my wife] what should we do with it.

I don't want a heavy safe full of silver..

Spot price is around $28 per ounce.

Sell it and buy gold.

Guess gold is out. Sell it and buy two or three Ethereum tokens.

I think silver would actually be more useful than gold in a SHTF scenario, but there’s absolutely zero reason to keep that much. If you want to maintain exposure in precious metals, convert 90% into gold. If you don’t, convert it all into something that gives better returns.

I held a small stash (175 oz) for 12 years and barely broke if at all. Sold it to a local metal dealer at $30/oz. Sell and buy something that will actually go up in value.

No currency is worth anything in a true doomsday scenario. Wtf can I do with an ounce of silver when the world is in chaos and I'm hungry?

Are you saying that an ancient form of currency/payment won't have any value to buy you food from someone with excess food during chaos?

Yes

Very few people will value a shiny rock when everyone is starving, dying from disease, and can't defend themselves.

bleeds …. it depends on the type of silver.

is it bullion? … coins or bars?
Is it mint-issued? …. which govt. mint?
is it slabbed? …. graded by a service? ( e.g ngc, pgsc)
is it numismatic? … pre-64 junk silver? …

there are a lot of variables that can affect value.

Prepare an inventory and you should be able to get some bid-offers from either online dealers or individuals. Post it here too, …you might get some interest. Good fortunes!

18 lbs is heavy to you?

Hell I’d love to have that. I’ll take it off your hands for 350 dollars

I'd love to find a local buyer of my old stash rather than selling to a dealer and taking a 10% haircut off spot...

30 1oz silver bars
2 10oz silver bars
15 buffalo silver rounds
15 eagle replica rounds
60 American silver eagles

Bullets, medicine, cigarette lighters, clean water. You’ll sell your fricking soul and throw your silver stash in as a sweetener for the above in a true SHTF scenario.

Dump it. Nothing but an expensive paperweight that takes up valuable space.

Precious metals would be pretty worthless in doomsday scenario but in an EMP or major cyber attack that renders cc/debit, etc useless for a few weeks, it will be useful.

Precious metals are more like insuarance plans than investments.

Silver and gold won’t do much in a true SHTF scenario. They are a hedge against massive debasement of a fiat currency.
