Moved our son in this past weekend to the dorms for his freshman year. We've visited before but spent a few days this past weekend walking around. it's hard to describe how much we enjoyed it. The people, the food, the music, and the incredible outdoor opportunities. Needless to say it was depressing driving back into BR seeing all mess and crime.

IF we decided to move from BR to within 15 minutes of fayetteville, where should we look for schools and neighborhoods. 450k to 650k range. Need elementary and high school.

TIA

I moved my kid into the dorms this weekend also. Great place and seems very safe. However, i gladly drove back to South La.

What’re you looking for? Land? Close to town? Lots of options really depending on what you want.

Prairie Grove and Farmington are both nice with good schools and will be a little cheaper than Fayetteville as far as cost of living. Just be forewarned that this area is booming and housing costs are out of control. Traffic is also awful once school comes back into session. Population has outpaced infrastructure by quite a bit.

But yes, it's an awesome place to live.

Fayetteville, Springdale, and bentonville is where you should look. All the schools are good

Moved to NC earlier this year. Almost everything is better than South LA, especially schools and future opportunities for our kid. But South LA is like an abusive relationship - you don’t know why you love it, but you do. I like it here just fine and know we are in the right place, but it’s not home.

Made the move from BR in 2008.

Currently, look into Elm Springs. 20min to Bentonville, 20min to Fayetteville, easy shot to Springdale. Infrastructure building.

I moved to Rogers about a year ago from Memphis and I love this area. It’s about as nice of a suburbanish area that I’ve ever lived in. You’ve got every store or restaurant you’d ever need and the service even at fast food places is incredible compared to BR or Memphis.

And it’s much easier to just call it Northwest Arkansas so there is no confusion with the NC one and Fayetteville isn’t any more important than the other bigger cities here.

Don't really need land. I liked the feel of Fayetteville town. My wife wants a view.. .maybe by a lake. We really don't like chain restaurants either so within 15-20 of town is best.

Also yes Fayetteville, Arkansas. I forgot about the NC one.

I am also in construction and would need to find a job, but it looked like construction is booming in that area.

Bentonville seems to be the closest to city living in NW Arkansas, right? I stayed with a friend in Rogers for two days and it was more upper middle class suburban. Farther out, but I can’t call something in that region sprawl, when I’ve seen Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, etc.

Our favorite SEC road trip. Close to a perfect college town.

Lake Atalanta in Rogers is nice. It’s close to Downtow Roger’s which isnt chain restaurant land and has lots of cool local restaurants (unlike Pinnacle area of Roger’s which is chainlandia) It’s kind of a inconvenient as far as nearness to interstate, though.

If you want to live in Fayetteville proper, it’s expensive, especially if you want to live downtown. (My next door neighbors house in historic district just sold for over a million, and it’s like 2800 sq. Ft., admittedly with a large lot that leaves room for additional construction).

I think the OP is talking about Fayetteville AR, not NC.

My experience with the latter was Vietnam related. Maybe better now, but I wouldn't risk it.

We have friends in Rodgers that we visit often and I love that area.

I think when the kids are out of the house we’re going to retire there.

At first I thought you were talking about Fayette-nam (NC), until I got to this part.
